Watch some cooking shows, trying to find some good healthy recipes. I noticed on some of them they put, wine, beer, Jack, rum, or so on in the mix. I thought the point was to make food taste good, not promote alcoholism. I don't see the point in it, specially with young folk.

When cooking with any alcohol, usually, most of the alcohol is cooked off, leaving the base flavor.

Used in small amounts, it adds to the flavor perception of foods by increasing the aroma of the foods.

Of course, alcohol in food can be abused, like pouring a qt of vodka in a watermelon.

But, why would you do THAT uglystupid2 Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

The alcohol doesn't concern me, because it probably gets cooked off. The thing is, the flavor is what concerns me. You get accustomed to a certain flavors that are in booze, could that be a root cause for child alcoholism, and does the flavor attracts them. I don't know! Some people think it is cute and cool I think it is sad, when you have, to have the flavor of booze in your food. Another thing I noticed , is on show is people have to do an alcoholic beverage to wind down on TV, I'm sure that is a positive message to the youngsters. Just my opinion!!

Speaking of Food!!! I seen the coolest thing on TV show. This guy, I guess he is a chef, now if you cook with garlic, you can appreciate this. Garlic is a pain to peel, so people crush it to peel it. Well this guy took several sprigs off the cluster, he had two SS bowls, he put them in one bowl and used the other as a cover, and shook the bowls hard for a few seconds.  When he opened up the bowl, the garlic peeled themselves. I didn't go for it, so I took two SS bowls put in some fresh garlic sprigs in it, and I will be cursed it worked. Try it I didn't believe it!

Whats an "SS" bowl? Not snarkey, just dont know. I have a rubber cylinder for garlic peeling.
Always looking for an easier way.
Kids will find it no matter who glorifies any thing. Wanna get some weed? Ask a 10th grader.
I made candied pecans and put a dash of Beam in the mix. The alc was gone but the taste was delicious.
Rum cake off the coast of Korea in 1980. That made me popular.

Yes!  Sorry, stainless steel.  I would guess it should be a hard container, not like a soft plastic. It was a cooking segment so they were using stainless steel bowls, that they had there.
