palin jane has some road rash, me I just shrugged it off. although my right elbow feels funky and my big toe on the right foot (first body parts to hit the ground I guess).

my fault, I didn't notice the road was slightly wet and I was a little too close to stop for traffic when the light turned red. I over applied the brakes and she shimmied all over the place before ending up on her right side with me slightly under her. lunch box, gone. water jug, gone. I'll go back in the light to see if I can find it because that means if it's gone my phone is too. the guy in the pick up ahead of me helped me get her up and everything found that could be found.....

good life lesson, put you phone in your pocket or you'll never know where it might end up.

damage seems limited to right engine guard, tach housing, right kury highway peg and rash on right saddle bag. will look closer tonight.

my elbow is getting sore, right side ribs a lil tender, a small dime sized patch of road rash on my right big toe,.....(not even sure how that happened)

it's all good, remember I'm a sprightly lad of only 54. Wink

100%

Always have phone in left jeans pocket. Can feel it vibrate and then decide to stop to see who called.

Have never understood those who put it in saddlebag, trunk, tank bag.

If $hit happens and you are off the bike hurt and phone is 50 feet away it's as much use as a piece of rock until someone tries to track it and finds your body with the eyes sucked out by possums.

Glad you both got away with little damage.

You might want to get that elbow checked out.

Glad yer basically okey dokey. Increase following distance on wet or slippery pavement!  Roll Eyes ANYTHING I secure on the bitch seat-luggage and like that-2 one inch ratchet straps. As a ex flat bedder I am familiar with securing freight. I also put a windshield pouch on my I/S Trying-without success-to figure out how I lived that long without one. The ends of our extremities usually are the first areas to make contact in a git off. Again-happy it weren't worse than it wuz. 2moro morning look or the technicolor spots on yer body!  Roll Eyes Raced on Sunday in Japan and Monday usually had some interesting color on me!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

You can always buy a new phone.

A big toe is gonna be a bit more expensive.

My phone is always either clipped to my jeans or in my back pocket.

Sorry to hear this. Glad you weren't hurt any worse. I've had a couple of those "oh thit" moments that I then get to put into the memory banks.

I was approaching a traffic light once and got into the left turn lane. My right foot was on the crash bar highway peg instead of the peg by the brake. I often used the front brake lever only in low speed stop situations. Well, I was behind a car and suddenly saw the patch of sand in the road right where I needed to stop. All I did was slide on the sand with the front wheel and dumped it doing less than 5 mph. Because of the cars in front of me, I didn't see the hazard until it was too late to give it both brakes. Another lesson learned...the hard way.  Coming up to stops now I make sure I have the availability of both brakes.  uglystupid2

Here's yet another tip of the day.

You know when they repave a section of roadway with asphalt.

And do you know when they paint the new asphalt with new cross stripes.

And did you know that all of that shiny new stripes have a bunch of reflective stuff added to the paint.

And did you know that all of that Shiney new stuff is actually little beads that wear off and are slick as snot until they wear away.

This tip of the day is brought to you by someone that darn near lost it on those little beads.

Beware of new paint on new asphalt.

5mph is fast when you go over the handle bars and land on your shoulder going backwards. I know, it hurts like h--l . It was my last ride before I sold and quit riding. Six weeks of enough pain that I could not get out of bed and had to sleep in a recliner.

I'm going to agree with you, Art. I went over my handlebars and through my fairing windshield at 45mph back in 07. Teenage girl blew a stop sign and I broadsided her 99 Merc Cougar right in her driver's door. Bike stopped instantly. I didn't. My helmet was in the trunk at the time==whoops.
The bike hit her car so hard that her car had to be towed away.

I lived to ride again. Bought another Interstate 3 years later. Totaled it out this past June hitting a deer in Wyoming after Inzane. Came to conclusion Interstates are bad luck and now own an F6b.  Wink Wink

Muscle head,

Glad ya didn't get hurt too bad.  Hopefully those bumps and bruises will heal in short order.  The bike can be repaired as well.   Did you find the lunchbox and phone?

What type of shoes or boots were you wearing....assuming those are shot now?   Another question I have is what front tire you might have had on?  I know you said you hit some damp or wet spots and I was also curious if you hit any painted lines or traffic markings on the pavement....I know those get quite slick.

Get well.....

all the pains are gone now, except the pain in the wallet for replacement parts. Cool

had a big bruise on right hip where I landed on my leatherman, didn't give me a limp or anything. sore as could be for two days across most of my back all the muscles hurt. the big toe on the right foot is healing slowly, I keep it wrapped up with bacitracin to help it heal. no scraps or bruising else where. I feel pretty lucky.

somehow the front top piece of the headlight got dinged, the tach housing split in two, the right engine guard and highway peg are toasty and there is some slight rash on the right saddle bag (national hard bag.)

going to get healed up and get back to riding to work. cooldude it's my 3rd get off, I'm not getting the message yet. uglystupid2
