Well, That's good news. I've been following this. Major pressure must have been brought, I would never have expected our Gov. to cave on this.
One of the symbolic conditions:
State police must be present at all gun shows to administer background checks in private sales of guns on a voluntary basis.Yeah, I can see people lining up for that.

Interestingly, the VA State Police are at most of the VA gun shows I've ever attended (usually two guys, always in uniform). It never occurred to me it was SOP. They are not going around checking sales or paperwork, they are providing over-watch and security, dispute resolution, and always friendly). In NoVA we are also aware that undercover ATF is
very often present and actively trolling for regulation breakers.
Of course, even without this, anyone could always take their private sale to any private FFL holder at any show at anytime, if they want to (run the gun through the system to ensure it's not stolen or hot, or to check the buyer's right to buy). Usually private seller's covering their asses. So I guess the State Police background checks will be free (maybe?), the private FFL's aren't (usually $25-40).
Every gun show I've been to in the Atlanta area has a police office at the door checking firearms and putting a trigger lock - hefty tie wrap - so the firearm is temporarily disabled. He'll remove it as you leave the show.
There's another officer close by.
Its amazing that just having a man or woman put a badge on and all of a sudden all human passions, emotions, egos, greed, power control, etc., go away and they are perfect and are the only ones that should have guns. Unions are behind it to protect jobs and increase number of cops so to increase union dues. If more people carried in every state, there would be less need for the number of cops which would reduce property taxes and STOP this forward march towards a police state.
off duty cop he felt scared.
http://www.ajc.com/news/news/crime-law/police-using-deadly-force-are-rarely-convicted/ng8Nf/ Former Atlanta Police Officer Reginald Fisher testified at his 2011 trial that he mistook the cellphone in Miller’s hand for a gun. Miller, a fast-food worker, was leaving a Mechanicsville apartment after helping his quadriplegic aunt. He refused to unlock his car door when confronted by Fisher, who was working an off-duty security job and had deemed Miller suspicious.
Fisher smashed out Miller’s car window with his baton, saw something in Miller’s hand and shot him.
A Fulton County jury acquitted Fisher, then 42, who argued that he was working in a high-crime neighborhood and feared for his life.
