Today, we had temps of 46 degrees, and steady rain in the Central Adirondacks. Tomorrow, promises partly sunny skies in the AM and early afternoon, with temperatures reaching fifty plus degrees. I just enjoyed a water-glass of Pino Noir, as I shined up the old gal, for a day of thunder in New York's North Country. God Bless the El Nino phenomenon, as this will be the latest I've ridden in an Adirondack Winter. I know the skiers and snowmobilers are really put out by this unusual weather. But, I just don't care. The opportunity to ride the phat girl for a few more days is simply incredible! They're saying Christmas Eve will find us at 63 degrees, with a chance of showers. I guess the rain gear will need to be tucked into the bags. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all! Merry Ol' Mike in New York!!!!!

El-Nino ? El-Nino ? This present weather is caused by a 1000+ year old natural phenomenon and not by al gore ! I'll be darned !

Same thing here in the Rochester area, steady rain till about 1pm and then the sun came out. Worked in a t-shirt outside for a couple of hours. One of these days I am going to bring my bike up to camp and do some riding over your way. Been itching to get back on my bike, haven't ridden since early September, took a 10ft fall and broke my ankle. Happy holidays to everyone. Flint

El Nino been berry berry good to us this Dec. No snow to shovel and none in the forecast. Today to be a record high and a few hours without rain to ride.
Sure hope this continues into the New Year like the winter of 2012 did, but I imagine that was a one time abberation. Chuck

Hey enjoy the warm east side of the country. We have had more snow in the last 2 weeks than we have had in the last 3 years. Have a pile of snow from driveway that is going on 4' feet high. Thought I had an agreement with the snow guy to only have snow above 4700' (we live at 4500') and rain below. Valk has sat for last two weeks in a warm dry garage, waiting for a short run.
Crater Lake that Art talked about, according to a report that I heard couple days ago, had over 80" of white on the ground, some 150% of normal for this time of year. AND more to come before Christmas. They normally keep the south entrance open all year, have several snow blowers. But can't keep it open this year.

80 inches on the ground is nuts for this early into winter, must be El Nino in reverse?? I'll take all this rain but can't imagine if it was colder and all these 1-2" rainfalls we have been having lately making my sump pump work every 30 seconds on/off/on/off forever it seems like now turns into snow. We'd probably have 2 feet of the white stuff if it was in the form of snow vs. all this rain. At least I don't have to shovel it for once being rain.

El Nino messes with the jet streams. That's why it gets cold in the warm places, And warm in the cold places. Starts out in the Pacific, with the water staying warmer than normal.

My lady on her trike and me on my Valk were out for a couple hours today.
It was 15C, or 59F, and bright sun. This is nuts, in a good way.

As a follow-up to my own post: The magic continues. It's Christmas Eve in the Adirondack Mountains, and I got the Valk out for a two and one half hour jaunt. Roads were a little damp from rain overnight. But a warming sun and afternoon temps at 60 degrees F, made the world a perfect place to be. The old gal ran great and I think that mini-tour was the BEST gift I got this holiday season. Merry Christmas all!!! Mike in New York

We drove our 4 wheel drive to a Great Mexican Restaurant, had dinner with family, came home thru the snow and had fresh apple and cherry pie.
Snow doesn't stop the enjoyment of the season.

Craig, glad you could make it, still can't believe how nice it was Long range forecasts show it might be time to hibernate the girls. But one will always be ready for the quick wake-me-up should El Nino decide we need more warm.
