My HD buddy that just joined our ranks  cooldude is a little height challenged.

He bought the 11.5 progressive's but would like a little more lowering.  Cool

He's tried the Ultimate Low Boy and Big Boy but the OEM is more to his liking. Sad

The passenger is against the OEM. tickedoff

I suggested he check out the Russell seats, but wanted to ask the collective board for it's suggestions and advice.

What's up?   Anyone?  Anyone?

Bill, I LOVE my new Russel. But if he is looking for less height I doubt the Russel is going to be the the way to go. Because of the "wings" it's slightly more of a reach to flat foot it. But for comfort on long trips a person can't go wrong .

I would think the Russell is higher. If he likes stock, he can keep the stock rider and use an Ultimate passenger with that.   The Ultimate passenger is mo comfortable than stock or Mustang, as I have been told.

And we don't know what model he has...... So maybe that info might help?

For me, the Russell is head and shoulders above the others for comfort, and I've had 4 different ones before it (on Deerslayer).  Figures, it's made to fit me.  But for lowering - don't think so.  However they make them to fit, so I would contact them, see what they say.  They cost more than OTC seats.  Worth it to me.  On long rides, makes the difference between "Wish I was there NOW my butt hurts" and "Damn we're already there."

Thanks for the replies guys cooldude

The bike is a Standard.

I was wondering about the "custom" made part of the Russell, if they would be able to lower him some.

Right now he's using the OEM with the Ultimate passenger seat.

Comfort is good, but the significant other hates the different look between the two brands.

I was thinking Corbin maybe?

My wife was done riding on the stock and Corbin pillion after about 15 minutes,  :tickedoff:now I have to push the bike to the end of the driveway to ride solo or she is loaded up quicker than a blue heeler pup,  :2funny:since I installed an Ultimate. She doesnt care what it looks like, it just made it so she can enjoy riding. Oh and in her late 40s she has learned to ride and bought her own Honda.

I have the stock seat, a Saddleman Seat, tried the Ultimate Low Boy and the high boy. The lowest seat by a long shot is the Saddleman.

On standard, the two seats are seperate.  How about keeping the OEM for him, and getting the RDL for the rear for her?

I'm 5'8" and I love my Corbin.  The thing is, you have to have a Corbin shaped ass.  To me, it's the most comfortable motorcycle seat I've ever sat on.  I can ride in that seat all day long in perfect comfort but I know people who think Corbins are torture devices.  YMMV.

I've never had a Corbin so I can't give a pro/con recommendation but the same is often said about a Mustang seat. I bought a Mustang seat for my F6b and although firmer, I actually like it. It also sits me an inch lower...although at 6 foot, I don't really need that.  It has a nice built in backrest for the driver.

I had the Russell on my last Interstate and think it's the best seat out there but it was harder to flatfoot the bike at stops. All in all, it was the best seat and most comfortable, imho.

I tend to agree with Alien about the Corbin seats. I had one on my standard and was a few miles away from a pressure sore on my back side (No exaggeration) when we arrived at Ashville two years back! Bought an Ultimate at Inzane, what a difference. Bought a Valkyrie Trike last fall and rode it back to Detroit from Boise Idaho. It too has a Corbin. Same thing! I'm not "brand bashing" any mfg. of seats, just my observations. I too am somewhat, vertically challenged (5'9") (30" inseam) with a left leg that's 1 3/4" shorter than the right. Even with the Ultimate Low Boy seat, I'm still on my tip toes. I too would like to figure a way to lower the bike a little. Obviously the trike isn't an issue.
