Well......... that was an interesting way to start the day off!
Initially it was normal enough... alarm goes off...... take shower, remote start the car to warm it up, get dressed for work, put shoes and jacket on and out the door I go. I notice it is a bit cold and quite windy. Unlock the warm car, open door and insert and turn the key to wake the rest of the car's systems. This is where things quickly deviated from the normal morning...........
After turning the key I hear a momentary sound like papers being "rustled" coming from the rear of the vehicle..... following instinct I turn my head to look towards the direction that the noise had come from........OMG....... it attacked me.... it went for my face.... then on to the dash it goes.....
Me..... well... being a superspeed magical being I'm already outside standing in the driveway. I may be a big guy but when things get crazy weird I can move faster than that "Flash" guy ever did.
I quickly open all the doors and the rear hatch. ..... hoping the furious attack creature would vacate the car. Never saw it leave, but careful searching didn't see it in the car. I did discover plenty of what it left behind..... took about 20 minutes to get it all cleaned up. Dang attack bird, not sure what specific bird, although I certainly got a close up "birds eye" view while my face was being slapped by it's wings but at that point my main concern was NOT species identification it was species protection ... as in my species protection, and using my special powers to be instantly out of the car!
Boss>"why are you late today?" Me> "I Had to clean a bunch of bird poop from various places inside my car." Boss> "yea sure, and the dog ate the kids homework"
The doors and windows were closed and locked overnight ... rainy day yesterday. I checked and added oil yesterday afternoon. Left the hatch open for maybe 5 minutes while adding oil under the hood. Apparently that small window of opportunity was plenty of time for it to enter, then hide and wait for this mornings ambush.
Wonder what the rest of the day has in store for me..... I eagerly await................

at least the squirrels caught in my haveaheart traps are kind enough to drop dead before I find them.
Have never found a bird in one of the traps
Glad you survived the incident Cliff and thanks for the laughs

Reminds me of an incident many years ago when stationed at Rantoul AFB, Illinois. One nice summer morning this Airman was just getting off work from the graveyard shift, got in his car and with it in gear after starting....he paused to light a cigarette. Since it was a stick shift, his left foot is on the clutch when he suddenly felt something crawling up his leg. Observers said he was screaming like a little girl, grabbing at his leg, the car lurched forward and took out a mailbox and a lightpost. It was later discovered to be a cockroach about 2" long, which he had smashed inside his pants leg. Reason for the bugs, there were many in the car; it was filled with food debris and wrappers he had never cleaned out.
As for birds in the car, I've only had one experience with that. As a kid I was sitting at a stop light with all the windows open when suddenly a Dove flew in through the right side and out the left right past my face. Happened so fast I didn't have time to react, just a little whiff on the nose from his wing as he went past.
