New to me but I'm sure many of you already know about this stuff......St Elmo's Cocktail Sauce. Tried some of this over the holidays with friends and family and it was a MAJOR hit. We normally use Bookbinder's but added the St Elmo's as a second choice just for laughs. Well, to our surprise the St Elmo's won out over the Bookbinders. It is spicy and does have a kick but it also has a nice flavor to go along with it. Just sharing.....your experience, opinions and tastebuds may vary. http://www.stelmos.com/cocktail-sauce/st-elmo-steak-house-bottle-cocktail-sauce/P.S. We got ours at a local Costco in the refrigerated area where the salsas and sauces are kept

I just use fresh ketchup and super fresh horseradish and a squeeze of lime. Make it to color...the lighter the color the hotter it is.

Texas Pete, a grocery store brand, has sugar farther down on the list of ingredients than most... I like it but would be happy to try some others...
Ingredients: Tomato Paste, Fresh Horseradish, Vinegar, Sugar, Hot Sauce [Vinegar, Aged Peppers ( Peppers, Salt, Vinegar), Water, Xanthan Gum, and Benzoate of Soda (To Protect Freshness and Flavor)], Salt, Garlic Powder, Spice, Citric Acid, Onion Powder.
Other grocery store cocktail sauces have sugar as #1 or #2 !

Hmmm, I'll be darned. I'll have to look at the ingredients on some of those.
We do as Pappy. Quick and easy. We grow our own horseradish.

Experiment with the home grown horseradish, with catsup or tomato paste. Try with no, or varying levels of vinegar added too. Yum, yum!

I like vinegar, but, JoAnn doesn't, so, guess what happens. When folks come over I make 2 varieties, mild and hotter. I guess next time I'll try a 3rd or 4th.

Catsup has more sugar in it. Try a little paste, with a little vinegar, add horseradish. Have fun experimenting!
