i've read on other forums about folks switching to synthetic on a bike with a lot of miles and having trouble with leaking.  anybody heard of this with the valks?   my '99 has 42k miles on it.  would i be best to stick with dino-oil?

Go for it. It'll shift better and run cooler and quieter.

I've 143,000 on mine and use nothing but synthetic.

Go for it!  I switched around 30k and have never looked back.  I switched at 25k on my Yamaha V-Star 1100 and the clutch started slipping.  I replaced the clutch and all is well.  Don't worry about the clutch with the Valk, it is much more bike that my Yam.

242,000 + change on MGM.
Have used Mobil1 for autos since 58,000 + change miles.

I see no reason not to go full synthetic oil.

It will run cooler, quieter & not leak oil, unless you have a hard seal.
If so, it will leak with any type oil ya have in it. :cooldude:

Hey fellow Jarhead, what is the deal with the little red 'x' in some of our weather banners?  My Vegas one in particular.

Or should I head that off to Scottie?

Paul, that warning was mostly applicable to older Harleys, which were inclined to leak oil anyway.  The argument was that synthetic would compromise the older gaskets (like at the rear (hotter) jug to crankcase junction).  Forgetaboutit for the Valk, it is not an issue

thanx everyone, i may go ahead with it, then.
