What a busy year and it appears 2016 will be busier......
The year by the numbers..... My division shot a total of 18,386,159.4 tons of granite using 11,643,636.2 pounds of explosives. That's 5 different Blasters including me.

Of that total I shot 5,017,038.7 tons of granite using 3,386,159.4 pounds of explosives.
Yes I'm tired.....however I do get to blow crap up on a huge scale....  cooldude  cooldude

That's very cool. I work in explosion suppression, isolation and venting so I guess we have something vaguely in common. We get to blow stuff up but we're also stopping it just as it's getting started. Every boy in us wants to blow stuff up!!  cooldude Evil

almost a million pounds of explosives a month-or 500 tons a month
or 31,900 pounds per day-how is that much explosive moved on a daily basis? or a million pounds a month-in one mine?
it takes almost 2/3 lbs. of explosives as you get granite. The explosive must be real cheap to use that much
WOW

You'd be even more tired if you had to dig out all that rock by hand or with just eqmt., NO explosives.   Shocked

Just like my neighbor, lazier than myself even,  hired a person to cut down his small to medium sized maple tree in his front yard with a chainsaw all at once in one single chainsaw cut.  He has a chainsaw that would do it, but he was too lazy to haul the tree away limb by limb taking one day tops for just him and his wife to do tops.  Instead hiring a local person with a bigger trailer to do it in 2 hours total time and one simple cut at the base of the tree.   I cut down a same sized trunk of an oak tree rotten away with a big bow saw by hand in my back yard taking me 1 hour to widdle away at since no chainsaw to do it in 10 minutes time and I got to keep the burr oak wooden chunks to use as firewood.

Only thing I would maybe have hired out to do is the root system getting ground up as well depending on how much one of those industrial roto-routing machines cost to rent.  My neighbor also probably would have hired out when I cut down my HUGE lilac bush which was a pain in the butt to dig the entire root system out taking 5 hours to do.  I had a 5 foot diameter hole 2 feet deep almost with dozens of roots in every direction needing axe chopping/digging out - that was a pain in the butt.

I surely could have used a 1/2 stick of your dynamite explosives in both cases.  BOOM!  3 seconds and done.  cooldude

I also think you have a cool, yet potentially VERY dangerous, job.

Nice!  It used to be my job to blow stuff up.  I thought it was my job to blow up the country of Iraq and I tried very hard for the better part of 2003 to do so.  Here's a few pics of my work.

First, a 100,000 lbs N.E.W. shot.  We were 4.5km from the blast.  Just under the right edge of the cloud, you can see a line of something.  That's a row of trees that are 60 feet tall.  https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-B1-7SPo-5qU/Voc2YJsee4I/AAAAAAAAAV8/TI9uX2YB3gw/w737-h553-no/100%252C000%2Bpounds.jpg

Next is a shot of one of the caches we blew.  Can't remember the weight on this one, but BIG!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-YFTF_8vswfk/Voc2WBJt7CI/AAAAAAAAAVg/jMcpWu9qiHI/w415-h553-no/Large%2Bcache.jpg

And finall, the results of a similar shot.  Making ponds in the desert!  https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-MsUNFhBmmOc/Voc2TOuWpyI/AAAAAAAAAU8/dPos0rtQNlI/w737-h553-no/Making%2Bponds%2Bin%2Bthe%2Bdesert.jpg

Now I drive a desk and really miss the old job.

The only thing I ever blew up was myself.  Only took a small can of FFFG black powder.

Then I married my afternoon shift hospital nurse.  That took longer to heal than the powder burns.

yah, thought about you but GA to WI is a tad far for you having a 15 minute job with 4 scoops of the bucket.  It would take you longer to setup/unload/load your unit than it would have to dig out the root structure.  Even those 1-2" roots underground were a pain chopping each and everyone out with an axe.

Absolutely, that tight white uniform and tights had no warning label at all.

Time for that bed bath.    Well, if you really think I need one.

Sorry about that, it didn't get burned.  That's OK, it's easier to wash that way.
