Y'all might have seen our area on the news this week...fortunately we suffered no damage. Still sobering though.

Yeah.... It's pretty awesome (In the truest sense of the word, inspires awe) the power of nature.

That water tower in Daniel's linked article is less than a mile from my house.

And... here's some drone footage of the damage in my little town of Rowlett... Very sobering being able to recognize the area, pointing out friend's houses, pointing out where friend's houses used to be, and realizing just how close it came to us, our house, my parent's house, my sister's house, etc...

(And VERY impressive that there were no fatalaties in Rowlett... THAT is impressive!)

Daniel, I pray for those who lost their homes and loved ones and I'm glad you suffered no significant physical damage to your property.
For those of us who live in the Midwest, tornados are a way of life. It's hard to fathom how a house can be leveled to the ground and houses a block away are relatively untouched.

I helped do cleanup at a farm that had been hit by the Plainfield, Illinois tornado of 1990. It was an F5 tornado in which 29 people were killed. It was very sobering.

At the farm I was at, there was a silo about 25 feet up in a tree, twisted around it like it was a piece of tin foil. I commented to someone about how strong the winds must be to do that. Another person chimed in and said, "Yeah, especially when that silo came from a farm 2 miles away!"

Serk, thanks for sharing that video. Wow, that path was really widespread. I feel for the people. Humbling.

I worked for many years with a friend who was running to get his family to safety from an approaching tornado.  He had to run upstairs to grab his youngest, and as soon as he picked him up, the 2d story of his house exploded and blew him and his young son out into the middle of his front yard.  Both were bruised up, but no more.  The home was demolished.

The randomness of life can be pretty strange.

That is amazing!  The aerial footage is really sobering.  That's going to be a mess for quite some time.

Initial guesses (and likely to go up) are in excess of a billion (with a B) in damages.
