About a week ago, there was an article in the paper about the Oathkeepers guarding a Military recruiting station in our Glenbrook Mall. They were guarding it by open carry of handguns. The name Oathkeepers name was printed on their caps or shirts.
What do you know about them? I was on their website and noticed dues were $40.00 yr, with, it seemed, only a newsletter for the price. Some of the Ft. Wayne police have taken a dim view of what they're doing.
I'm neutral.

Yeah, I looked that up too. That's not what I'm interested in. Does anyone have any personal experience, good or bad, about this group? Again, just curious.

Baldo, Oathkeepers says in the media that the person you referred to is not speaking for them and holds no office there. Not helpful.
However, I wonder about an organization that charges $40.00 membership for a newsletter and has very expensive clothing stuff for its members.

Solo, looks like the Oath Keepers are taking an even stronger position: Oath Keepers Media Director “He has now been suspended for his actions, and we are in the process of following our bylaws to kick him out entirely. We, in NO WAY condone his actions, and are in the process of putting out statements to our membership to inform them of such,” Mr. Van Tatenhove, said.

The newsletter keeps members in the loop and the purpose of the organization isn't bling... visible id to help the public, and others, know why they're there.
I'm just guessing, because I don't know first hand.
They also guarded places at some of the recent riots around the country, causing the media to describe them as a "far-right militia group". The Southern Poverty Law Center hates them, says they are militaristic liars, kooks basically, who say they won't submit to any laws that try "to force Americans into concentration camps, confiscate their guns, or cooperate with foreign troops in the United States."

One can be known by one's enemies.
The enemies of Oathkeepers, the ones I have found, are left wing radical groups. Liberal, Progressive, Democratic.
So, that tells me, at least with only a cursory look, that I like them!
Ex military, police, etc. Sworn to protect the Constitution. Defend the 2nd Amendment, and all the others.
No wonder the Lefties hate them!

While i admire their purpose I wonder if they're too much 'In your face" . Jes a thought.
They open carry when guarding the recruitment station. I'm more low key than that. I served in the Armed Forces but I am not into any more of the military discipline. That's for the military, not me.
I do know of a police sergeant, whom I trust. He says that LEOs have had problems with the Oathkeepers.
Still neutral.

I am not a member of the Oathkeepers, nor am I likely to ever be; however, on 23 December 1973 I did take an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. That oath did not come with an expiration date. I consider myself subject to the Code of Conduct as much now as ever. I have condensed all the articles into one simple paragraph that guides me.
I am an American warrior. I serve in the forces that guard my country and keep my people free. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
That's about all there is to me.
