THAT.....is amazing! Kudos to CP for doing this!
One of the things on my bucket list is to do the Canadian Rockies by train. Hopefully I can cross this off my list one day.

Hey Skinhead, Thanks for that -- very cool.  We just don't see stuff like that around here.  cooldude

This is indeed an annual tradition that is looked forward to by many citizens. It makes a stop in my humble town of Maple Ridge BC and that particular evening has marked the traditional start to my family's Christmas season for years. Seeing it weave along the Fraser River line all lit up and then stopping in front of a large festive crowd awaiting its arrival all carrying donations for your local charities  just can't help but put you in the mood. A good friend of ours with CP played the role of Santa on it for the SW BC portion of the run for a few years and my wife was afforded the opportunity to ride along through several communities one year.

Pappy... the train trip from BC through the Rockies is truly spectacular, offering views and a perspective not available from the highways. A close second however, is riding the Valk to and through the Rockies. The current value of your US $ here in Canada would certainly make this bucket list item easier to pull off... cooldude

Thanks MSB !
I did some research into it back in the very early 90's as my Mom and Stepdad were interested. That also re-stoked an early interest I had in train travel.
