I flew 14 times in the last 2 years. I always have an essentials bag, toothbrush, comb, etc. Last time I flew, one of the security guys at TSA asked if he could check my bag. I said sure, go ahead. As he rummaged through the bag, he had this satisfied look as he pulled out a pair of nail clippers. He told me they were not allowed on, and that if I wished to go back and check my bag I could, or they would need to confiscate them. Of course being the smart ass I am, I said to him, are you afraid I'm going to snap and run amok on the plane and cut everyone's nails? Of course, my wife didn't care for my humor, but I really think there is no consistency in how TSA works. I see old people, in their 80s and 90s being put through the ringer to go through security. Believe me, I think security and metal detectors are necessary, but I really see no consistency in how things are handled!

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Clippers and even knitting needles are allowed per the TSA site.

My wife always takes her knitting when we fly, it's funny that her foot long 1/2" diameter needles are allowed. Scissors under 4" are also allowed.

I used to fly quite regularly for work.  I got REALLY sick of airports, flying, airline cancellations, and THE TSA.  I once went through security at DTW, and after removing shoes, belt, jacket, emptying all pockets, taking laptop out of my back pack, I sent the whole mess through the X ray machine.  Now as part of my job, we use a lot of interface devices that allow us to communicate with the vehicles we calibrate.  Lots of wires and cables and electronics.  Anyway, dude pulls my back pack and asks if it's mine, I answer yes and he asks if he can search it, sure I say.  He pulls out a bottle of water that I had taken out of a vehicle I was driving and tells me it is not allowed. I said no problem, throw it in the trash.  He hands me my bag and away I go.  He never said a word about the razor scraper that I forgot was in the side pocket.  I felt really safe after that.  What a joke they are.

I watched the video of the girl and then I watched other video of passengers being searched.

It's disgusting the this Fed Govt - yep it goes back to Bush - is allowed to physically invade/insult us Americans.

Cause of course because they are wearing blue gloves it makes it OK.

If a parent I would find it hard to restrain myself watching someone assault my child.

I got escorted out of the KCMO airport when I objected to the way the boarding agent fondled the foreign exchange student from Romania, that we hosted about 10 years ago. Big momma gave them an earful as I was leaving. She is an Irish lass. I think they wished they hadn't done that.

I won't fly via a US airport with my kids for this reason.  When they are 18 they can decide for themselves.
