Rented a 17 foot U Haul to pick up some furniture.

On the way to return it stopped at Exxon to put some gas in.

Put gas pump nozzle into gas tank filler hole.

Pulled trigger on pump handle and gas poured onto the ground below the vehicle.

Pulled nozzle out and firmly reinserted.

Same result.

Surely they wouldn't have left a functioning screw off gas cap with "use regular gas" sticker on it over a void???

Someone would have to take a look, but, it sounds as though the tube and connecting tubes are the problem. Probably one of the rubber connector hoses went bad. It shouldn't be too hard to see what the problem is.

About 10 years ago I had a new Chev 1500 truck, and was broadsided by a moving van the day before I was to leave on holiday to Mexico with the family. Got the truck towed in to a shop and an insurance claim started then left for Mexico the next day. When I returned my truck was repaired, and when I picked it up the tank read empty so I stopped to fill it up. Same thing happened...gas poured onto the groud under the truck...body shop forgot to install the gas filler hose. uglystupid2

Sounds like someone cut the tube under the truck to get a siphon hose in the tank Evil
