I came across this video on You Tube about deleting Facebook. I thought it was a good informative point to consider, I don't agree with him all levels. But I do, at the point of, Often, to Extreme and Excessive Compulsive levels. To find a friend or family that lives a long distance and so on, in moderation I find it OK.

It is good for people who have long distance friends/family or to keep ALL informed of YOUR business if you so choose to keep them informed.  Other than that, is total garbage.  I for one will never use it.

This^^^^^   Guilty of it myself.  Been known to vomit a little useless info on here once or twice as well.

I do like the cute kittie and doggie videos.

And Lulu Belle's on there!

I don't care who just got up, took a dump, brushed their teeth, farted and I hate my wife she is a bitch. So and so is an asshol* and on and on. I do agree that for keeping track of friends and family a ways away, it's good stuff. But, so is a phone call.
I am NOT on facebook and never will be. Couple of my guys were getting a divorce and aired their dirty laundry on there, along with millions of others.Worse than a soap opera. (I have an SOP that prohibits any department involvement on social media). When something is going on with someone, one of my guys will show me whats cookin that has facebook. Other than that    uglystupid2

I know one guy, very stupid guy, who lost custody of his 2 kids still living with him since the b_tch wife (she really was that)  used his cell phone texts and facebook page against him in a court of law in their divorce.

Anything you type in can and will be used against you.  He should have known better, but like said, he is not that bright, but I feel ONLY sorry for the 2 kids since the dad was much better than the mom and the mom will only screw up their kids' lives even worse by far.

If you have family or real friends that don't call or you don't see that often I can see it but otherwise my life is not Face book fodder. Hell I am to busy living life to post it and why do I have to recount the things that happened to me in the day?

Mark is a wealthy man right now not because of a product but because of a data mining social program, that people willingly contribute to. Another reason I don't do Face book.

Took me a minute to find the oatmeal,  Wink

I joined it one day then dropped it the next. Like it was pointed out, it works for keeping in touch (sorta), but for the main part, it's brag and bitch, and airing your dirty laundry so that people will know more about you, which is not always a good thing.

I have used it since it came out. It does not take over my life, nor does it piss me off. Its just like anything else. It's what you make of it. I have found it a useful tool,, but that's me. I have nothing against anyone that does not like it. As far as airing your opinions or dirty laundry,, that has been done on here also.

I have been "lurking" on facebook for years- I check it maybe a couple times a week. I'm still trying to figure out what it's really good for.   I NEVER post topics... maybe I'll like something very non-controversial like my daughter's birthday, etc. But I get bored after a few minutes and log out.

It's alot of cute dog and cat pics,  food pics, and political  videos,  maybe some jokes, etc..
I'm amazed at the personal stuff people post there - for all the world to see!! Not thinking ahead.

But, I'm a Realtor, an "old guy"  Realtor and I am constantly told that Millennials live with their facebook (and other social media) and I NEED to be there with my  FB professional page. I'm still not sure why, but  Millennials think nothing of posting their every move on there and they are more into   "group think"... that's our next batch of movers and shakers in this country are Millennials 15 years from now so I'm trying to figure them out now.

Bottom line - Facebook is a pretty big distraction,  at best- mildly interesting,  at worst - a huge time waster.  I'm told  Millennials spend 20-30 hours a week on average on Social Media.

I believe that many innovations are created with the best intention, until greed and excessive compulsive is introduced. If you notice with todays tech, it is like a barometer of mental stability. All you have to do is pay attention. The way I see it, is a strong minded person will basically say Hi and Good Bye, or find an old friend, family member, school mate or even an old girlfriend. Hi, how you doing and that's it. But when you become addicted or glued to a devise, then chances you have low self esteem and weak minded, ISIS first picks. Like Wizzard says, Its what you make it, if it is out of control, you created that Frankenstein Monster, your creation, your to blame. BUT, use wisely it can be a valuable tool, just like anything in life. Bottom line is, if you abuse it, it will come back an bite you in the ass.

Fact: People judge others by their own actions, So don't assume because you can't control your action, that others can't control theirs.

I write em to. The only reason we have them is usually because of bad or dangerous procedures while on a scene. To put it in a nutshell: To protect people from themselves and to protect others from poor actions of others. IF these same bad actions persist after an SOP is written it gives the authority the right to discipline or terminate if serious enough. Then there is the order of discipline. What a PIA they  can become!
