You know, I am a Baby Boomer!  Back in the day, TV was more positively focused than today’s TV.  We had Ozzie and Harriet, Leave it to Beaver, Sea Hunt, and The Little Rascals, and so on. Of course, we also had the Road Runner, Three Stooges, Bowery Boys, and so on, which  later on, some said they were violent programs, but during our times we did not mimic the slap stick antics, because we knew we were accountable for our actions and would have to pay the price.  But the programs today, it seems they are always looking for people’s faults and flaws and any dirt on them, and to bring it to the attention of the public, LIKE as if it was OUR BUSINESS what they do. It seems the mind set is about drama of common everyday occurrences, creating the sensation from nothing, to take away the attention of the public, from the things they enjoy doing.  I noticed something, in the past several years, there seems to be more and more Award Shows, during prime time, even getting awards for doing a bad job.  These actors, singers and musicians make a truck load of money, and many live in multimillion dollar mansions, for what they are paid to do. But yet they need to get awards for doing their job, for what they got paid for.  Did you ever get an award for just doing you daily job, not talking about, above and beyond.  I myself never watch them; to me it is like the wealthy rubbing the working man’s noses in their successes, even though their money came out of our pockets.  In reality, their success doesn’t bother me; I wish the best for them. But when these Award Shows come on, at the time and on the channel that I am going to indulge in watching some silly fictional programs that I choose to watch, and can’t watch, it pisses me off. It’s like, the Media is going to dictate, what you are going to watch in the course of prime time, rather than what you want. It’s the same old thing, flaunt themselves, or Oops I had a garment slip, or whatever dirt or mistake they make.  WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO GOOD OLD FASION TV ENTERTAINMENT!!!! Its only entertainment, not a way of life as they project.

My award comes every other Thursday.
America was a better place when out TV shows were about Cowboys instead of Lawyers.
(Sorry Oss. But, you are one of the good ones. That makes three I've known in my lifetime.)

Award shows............ reach arounds for the court jesters.

It isn't just Hollywood, the Fed apparently thinks over half it's employees are exceptional performers.

Here in Detroit TV, I don't know if it is the same in your area, but with lawyers ADs, it is every other one, and even back to back several in a line," screw your neighbor, screw your employer".  They even have ADs which sounds like even if you are wrong they can get you money.

watch Master Chef Junior     Its  KIDS

Seriously

http://www.fox.com/masterchef-junior/full-episodes

There are some on this Board who would do well to emulate the maturity of the kids as they compete

and they are 8-12 yrs of age (the kids)

Three of the things that make my blood boil.  Ads and shows using Military, Pets and especially Children. I call it pimping them out, or exploitation of them.  Children should be outside playing, building tree forts, playing with dolls, building models, or even creating the next revaluation in transportation. Not on TV like some ones toy or possession, and exploit them to get rating, which turns in to revenue. It bad enough that adults prostitute themselves on TV for attention and money on reality shows, tossing their privacy and self worth in the trash. Don't do it to them!
Sorry Oss. its just my opinion and what I see on TV.

You know another thing that fries me, is child pageants, parents take their children, dress them up like adults, and put make up on them, and flaunt them on stage like a circus act. Then they wonder why they have theses pedophiles  on DateLine.

I look for Gunsmoke, old science fiction, or History channel. Can't watch much of todays movies, but John Wayne, or Clint still entertains me. Would stop to watch old Yosemite Sam anytime. One of my favorite movies was "In The Heat Of The Night", can watch those over and over again!

a few months ago we got 2 new TV channels, 1 is ME TV and the other is H&I. There is a large variety of the good old shows like "Wanted: Dead or Alive" starring Steve McQueen as well as "Combat!", the WWII TV program. Black Sheep Squadron, Rat Patrol, Quincey, Rockford, MASH and a few others too.

I can't watch the new stuff on TV (I do watch "The Walking Dead", the whole family watches it and 2 of our neighbors come over Sunday nights also) and the reality shows stink. I'm happy with Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and AMC.  If Comcast and the NY Yankees don't come to an agreement soon i'm going to be pissed because the YES Network is no longer one of my channels.
