I am considering some longer rides and want to be able to put my I phone 6 on the handle bars. Two reasons video recording, directions and phone calls. What mounts to you guys use and are you happy with them?

This is what I'm using, mounted it right on the handlebar riser clamp using a home made bracket, so far so good.
I like it because rather than the spring loaded clamps, you can screw the thumbscrews in and your phone isn't coming out again til you unscrew them.

I have a galaxy note 4 with the defender series otterbox. a few zip ties through the belt clip around the center of my bars on my interstate and its solid as anything. it is also the only thing I could find that was large enough to hold my phone. no way of shooting video with it but for gps I love the location

I've used RAM mounts on my bikes for a long time. The same mounting system can be used for my GPS or Phone with just a changeout of the holder. On my current bike I have a setup that allows for both devices to be used at once as I have a double ball setup.

I have the Note 4 and the defender otterbox too.  I have the normal size spring loaded X-grip holder.

What I had to do to make the phone fit was, the two arms you squeeze to open the holder, I re-bent them. I bent those 2 arms strait than  bent them up again to  make the grippers, slightly wider.

Now the X-grip works just fine.

Good to know something else can be made to work for this but I don't think anything will be as secure as the otterbox holster. low budget too works for me. my brother spent around $75 on his phone mount + charger and audio cables. for that price I'd rather get lost and put the money in my gas tank

I use the Ultimate Addons system.
It's completely watertight, it rotates, and it recharges my phone with a cable system that connects to the battery..
Plus, it has various cable tips that can be switched out depending on what device I take with me.
you can even swap out the case whenever you update your phone.

Hey Robert, my method is really hi-tech.......either my shirt pocket or the saddlebag.  Grin

Just yanking that leg a bit, but I simply don't concern myself with the phone while riding. I have a GPS mount for a GPS I've used once in seven years. Usually the phone is in the saddlebag because I like to carry my small digital camera in my shirt or jacket pocket. Plus, my tank bib has a pocket in it for quick access.....usually for my sunglasses or toll pass.  cooldude

I also use the X Grip on the bars, used it with my phone to navigate a 5,000 mile trip last September.  The phone will work itself loose on rough roads but a stop at Dollar General to pick up some hair bands was a quick solution.

I also use the RAM X-grip.
Have not had a problem with retention on my iPhone6 but Lesa has had an issue with her larger mount and her iPhone6+ coming loose. She has literally caught it twice now. We just put a ring on the back of her phone case that I can use to secure it better.
Like the idea of those hair bands as well !

I have the Akron. It mounts find to the handlebars, it's water resistant but not fully water proof (does the job if the rain though). Mine has served me well for 2 years now.
