Without a doubt my all time favorite group.
I'm always checking them out on Facebook for old hidden videos that get posted.

Seen them in concert a few times, as well as seeing Don Henley solo, who I believe has the best voice.

RIP Glenn, another legend has sadly bit the dust.

Not trying to steal the thread, but another musician, Dale Griffin, of
Mott the Hoople, has passed at the age of '67'.

this quote has always stuck with me, through good and bad times;

"So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key"
 "Already Gone"

and this one, boy did I learn the hard way, more than once;

"And I found out a long time ago
What a woman can do to your soul.
Oh, but she can't take you anyway,
You don't already know how to go
."

Frey, Leadon, Meisner, and Henley.  Saw them perform as Linda Ronstadt's band in 1971 when they were touring along with Jackson Browne.  Some show and a glimpse of things to come from them all.

Frey did a few outdoor shows up in Aspen during the late 70's during the summer months along with John Denver for the Aspen School for the Deaf ("The Deaf Camp Picnic").

Those boys (the Eagles) got me through some lonely nights and bleary mornings at the beach in L.A. when the east coast boy migrated out west to join in the fun.  Their lyrics filled in the spaces and got me goin' after those California girls in due time.

A fine songwriter in his own right, he joined with Henley to create some memorable music that will carry on as "classic".
Legendary partiers those Eagles (check out "History of the Eagles" DVDs, 5 or so hours long, if you can find them).  I believe those boys consumed the Peruvian Marching Powder by the bucket.  Those were the days, my friend.

God speed, Glen Frey.

Heard this on the radio early this morning.  Got up and went to the Detroit Free Press as Glenn was from Detroit area and  his mentor was Bob Seger just 3 years older and found this great tribute to Glenn from Bob.

http://www.freep.com/story/entertainment/music/2016/01/18/bob-seger-friend-glenn-frey-he-my-cheerleader/78984718/

My sister first told me of these guys as she was young out of Michigan State and took a position as a Med Tech for the blood Bank of the UCLA Medical Center.  ( a dept she would later run until retirement).
She always came home for Christmas ( Midland, MI )  and gave me "Eagles" album and just gushed about these guys.  I became an instant fan and am to this day.

If you get the chance watch the rock documentary History of the Eagles as Willow above wrote about.  It is fantastic and very honest and  brutal in all that happened to these guys and the huge falling outs between band members.  This past Christmas I sent a present to my sister who still lives in LA  ( Playa del Rey ) of History of the Eagles coming full circle from the mid 70s present she gave me.

RIP  Glenn Frey

Being on the road like these bands are is tough life full of pressure and temptation. Makes an old man out of a young kid pretty quick. Seems we lose or have lost the good ones at an early age. 67 is NOT OLD! Bad day for music.   ???

Makes one think of where music would have been if Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison would have stuck around for the duration?

While that was not my Era for music, I do remember my favorite piece.  Here it is played on a hammered dulcimer.  I'll never get this good but I'm trying to learn the HD.

very sad indeed, one of my favorite bands. The Long Run album was my favorite esp the song "I Can't Tell You Why"

however reading now about his sickness, looks like all of the side effects listed from taking the drugs for arthritis, beware of the legal snake oil salesmen.

I had that line scrolling across my computer screen at work, it fit the treatment
plan for most clients. All day, 5 days a week, I heard people complain of their
situation, when they could change it at any time. Most frustrating part of the job.

NO one can deny the Eagles were one of the best, if not the best,  bands of all time and Glenn was a major part of it for sure.  I think everyone can relate and loves the Eagles no matter what age.

I also agree with the statement above about taking meds where a med may help one situation, but cause other areas of illness due to side effects of them.    That is why I try to (knock on wood) NOT take meds if at all possible, helps one illness, can cause another.
