Greetings,
I just joined the forum after meeting a few Valkyrie riders at Hardee's in Brooksville and was told that I'd be welcome to ride with the group on Saturdays.

I want to run a  car tire on the back and wonder if anyone in the area knows where I can get the tire mounted.  I have checked several motorcycles shops from Brooksville to New Port Richey, and no one will mount the tire on the rim.

Thanks

Thunderbolt

I can't help you with your original question but I bought a tire changer and motorcycle adapter from Harbor Freight some years ago.  I installed some anchors in the concrete outside my workshop that I can screw bolts into and secure the tire changer and I do my own tires.  It would be a lot easier if you can find someone to do it with a machine but if you can't it is something that you can do yourself.
Good luck

Pappy!

There should be several guys in your area over there that can help with that answer. Hopefully you have chosen a tire with very rounded edges.....makes a huge difference.

Venom Cycle East side of US19 just below the Pithlachascotee river in New Port Richey does mine.  Price just went up to $32.  No hassle, and if you don't use Balance Beads they will balance it for you.  They are a Harley shop, but my Honda rims were not an issue.

Welcome to the group, I have only been a member for 5 months and was welcomed by all. Great group of people. I have gone on a ride every weekend for the last 7 weeks, all include lunch. Tonight is bike nite at Hardee's (Weeki Wackee/ Spring Hill) there should be someone there that know where to get your car tire mounted. Hope to see you there :cooldude:

Gil posted just before I did and I did not see it. Gil knows bikes and if he trust them they must be good. All the info you need, see what I mean by great group of people.  :cooldude:

Welcome from Kissimmee   :cooldude:

The shops I know are down in my area but as you can see, there will be plenty of help offered here.

Hope to meet you in one of our rides  :cooldude:

I have used cycle gear to do mine, have to carry the wheel in as they do not work on bikes. I was questioned once about the car tire, I just lied and said I run a sidecar. Changed it, no problem.

Gil,
I checked with Venom Cycle in New Port Richey and was told that they will not install a car tire on a motorcycle wheel.  They must have a new policy.

I have thought about buying a tire changer from Harbor Freight.  If I can't find someone to install the car tire I might have to get one.

I wasn't able to attend the Bike Nite this evening, but hope to make it next week.

Thanks for the replies.

Wow, I just did the Wing and Valk tires there.  As well I did the double darkside there.  I remove the tire and carry it in, maybe that is the difference.  If asked (they never have) my plan was the Grumpy sidecar thingy.

If you feel like a ride, I have a shop nearby me that will do it no questions asked. Located in Tavares and near "The Hideaway"

If all else fails go to St. Pete. Motorbikes on the corner of 46th Av. No. And 49th St.
Valkyrie admirer ST1300A rider.

If anyone tries to tell you there is nothing that bad about getting old they're either lying or it's already started to affect their mind.

Yep, that's where I go, Billyboy and Tundra use him as well. U can even bring the bike to him and he will put a new one on and grease up your drive as well. He is very familiar with the Fat Lady  :cooldude:

Yup, he only charges a little bit more to bring the whole bike in, so why break your back? I would pull the bags to prevent scratches. The owner and one other mechanic, both good people.
I would make an appointment, then go to lunch at Biff Burger or little Italy just down the road. Ready when I get back. :cooldude:
If you can't be a good example: be a WARNING!!

They have no problem with you buying the tires elsewhere and having them do the mounting?

Pappy,
I don't have a problem riding to Tavares to have the tire mounted.  Should I call them first?  The bike is an M109R.  I would take the tire and wheel in the trailer behind the Gold Wing.  It's only about an 80 mile ride one way.

Can you give me the name of the shop in Tavares?

Thanks for the information.

They have done Car tires for both Valks for me as well as MC tires for the BMW, Magna, VStar, VMax, VN1600, etc......

Thanks for everyone's help and comments.  I decided to put another motorcycle tire on the bike.   Maybe the next time I will go for a CT.
