BBQ Place in Mayo, FL

Anybody know if that little BBQ place right on US 27 in downtown Mayo is still open? Long, long ago we met there a couple of times for lunch, and... Well, maybe I'm going all nostalgic or something, but that has been on my mind lately. Most likely it's just my longing for some good ol' Florida BBQ, and that place just popped up in my recollector muscle.

I'm thinking about riding down there this coming Saturday... 1/30/16. I'm also considering Ken's in Madison, too, as I recall their offerings were rather tasty as well. Whatever, I'm coming to Florida on ALI, and I do plan to digest some Q... Anybody want to meet up?

North Florida is more convenient for me, but I realize it ain't for most of y'all... So, any counter offers or suggestions? If nobody can make it, then I'll let y'all know what you missed... Sure hate to waste a good weekend for riding this time of year, and the one coming up appears to be to my liking...

It is now called Mimi's and I just called them on the phone Bruce.  It used to be Two Sisters BBQ.  The lady that answered the phone said that now they are more like a take the family to eat for some country cooking type place and don't do much in the BBQ line.  Let us know what you decide.

I am sure there is a smokehouse or BBQ place next to Mayo Hardware, smells great when I deliver there. also a new roadside BBQ guy around the corner down 51 is getting quite popular, he has signs up along the way now.

Would love to meet up and Sherry and I can do northern Florida if given a tad more notice. With more of a heads up I could get someone to take my Sound system duties and printing duties Sherry has Saturday evening for the next day in Sarasota. Problem is people are afraid of sound systems. We do not get two day weekends very often. 

Also the cottage is open as well there is and extra BR with Queen & Bath rarely used.

WOW! I really appreciate the responses! Sorry things aren't working out... but... Since I first posted this, my daughter called, and... well, I now have a commitment for Saturday. Yep, I'm headed to her place tomorrow in Winter Springs, so I won't be available after all... Rain is due in at my place on Tuesday, so my window of opportunity is rather narrow! I reckon I'll just visit with her and her family, then head back to dear ol' Bama... Perhaps we can do a 'thing' in the near future...?

Rick & Christie, Jerry & Sherry, you folks need to be mighty careful about throwing out invitations like that... A good ol' boy like this guy is apt to take you up on it one of these days! No fooling, I'd love to hang out with y'all, but I know most folks have to work, so my dropping by during the week would be a major inconvenience... Still, I do sincerely appreciate the offer!!! I'll be looking for a chance to join all ya'll for some RTE down the road... and soon!

If so - Bring it on over for the rest of the week - My schedule is sporadic with time off thru the week.

DDT, I made it to Mayo today and got you a menu, 2 an 1//2 hrs for me, let us know what Saturday works. I may call a ride there the end of Feb. beginning of March. I only saw the back door and I am not sure about seating arrangements ?

Thanks, sixlow! I rode through Mayo last Friday, and there it was right beside the hardware store like you said! Yep, that was the same place we'd visited several years ago. New owner nowadays... she told me she's had it for three years now (Mimi's is across the street and down a block or so towards the courthouse).

I stopped by and it looked just like I remembered it... tiny restroom and all. I got a pork sandwich and order of cold slaw to go... I then rode on to the park on the Sawannee River by Branford, I think it is. Had a really nice stop there, and the Q was nice too. I rode on to Winter Springs, FL, for a fab visit with my daughter and family, then headed back to dear ol' Bama... I didn't make it, though. Got some phone calls that caused me to completely alter my plans... all good, too!

I'll see all y'all one of these days... only I don't have a clue when that might be!
