I'm curious of opinions of the debate ? I thought the top 2 guys did pretty crappy. It's no wonder Trump is kicking everyone's ASS. Some are saying Bush did the best. I sure didn't see it. And the 2 guys I could see myself voting for hardly said two words.

Cruz blew it with his "leave the stage" & "last 4 questions" comments. Rubio held his own with a steady performance. Christie had the best lines of the night with the "convenience" shots at HRC. I thought Jeb was more forceful than he has been in the last 6 rounds. It appeared Rand Paul had the most vocal support in the crowd last night. Kasich sounds too repetitive to me. Although he has an excellent record both in Congress & as Governor. Carson needed a breakout last night. But missed his chance & his quote of the Constitution at the final remarks segment was weak.
I don't think last night did a lot to change the minds of the good people of Iowa unless Cruz's faux pas cost him some support.

Cruz was trying to recapture the rousing support he got when he attacked the moderators in a previous debate. It didn't work... it came off as contrived; it seemed more genuine the first time. His comment about leaving the stage was supposed to be a joke (directed at Trump), but it was not articulated well.

I believe Rand Paul is the most honest candidate running, but I don't think he has a chance to be elected. Getting a little tired of Cruz who I first supported. He is out of his class in trying to put Trump down and his attempts at humor are boring!

Last night he came off pretty poorly with it and I think the crowd made that apparent. Rand Paul is correct when he says he is the only true fiscal conservative on the stage.

I am also ready to admit that it's time for me to throw in the towel in regards to Rand Paul. I know nobody here likes him but in my opinion Sanders and Paul are the only ones even close to honest.

Maybe they are just having too many debates. The door is wide open to have serious discussions on the issues and policies that they would deal with in the future but they, as well as the moderators, seem to like the Jr. High character assassination format.
That said, I'd have no issues supporting any one of them as the republican candidate for POTUS perhaps with the exception of Jeb Bush. (Kinda comes off as a whiner to me) Think all are reasonably honorable and would be good at the job.

I does appear Sanders and Paul are honest, but, their politics are about as far apart as it can get.
I like what Paul has to say and how he conducts himself. I just don't think he has a chance.
Sanders, well, I'll keep quiet [for now].

Sanders....lovable old guy. Everyone's grandpa.
I'm sure he is a benevolent kind of guy. Preaching all these great socialist government programs that will make everyone happy.
What Mr. Sanders sees is the possibility of the socialist utopia. Free health care, schools, housing, food. We'll build the finest transportation system, water systems, and everyone will have jobs that pay well and all will get to retire with a wonderful pension.
He sees Socialism and Communism as the perfect social order. And they are. In theory. On paper, where the people all are perfect and all believe in such an order it works very well.
In practice it works very well too. You just got to get rid of the imperfect people.
While the benevolent Mr. Sanders is doomed to fail at this, a less benevolent successor may not be.
Don't really care to see this social order get a real good foot hold. I'm one of the imperfect people you see.

You don't like comrade Sanders? Do you really want me to answer that ? How could anyone with more than 3 functioning brain cells vote for him. He may talk a good story, but, realistically he's nuts. All his ' freebie's' will cost the taxpayers 18-20 Trillion and not many seem concerned about that. Whats our debt right now ? We can't pay that back, so, do we really want to double it. At least bernie is pro gun and seems like an honest man, he just realized yet, at his young age, that socialism doesn't work. He is just one more that doesn't want to to take a lesson from history.

Just can't understand why they call these things "debates". Closer to dog and pony shows. Wouldn't you like to just once actually learn something from these charades? And why must the moderators be tv personalities? Why not college professors, or business leaders from the area the debate is being held?

They used to be closer to debates, now they've morphed into 7th grade cafeteria food fights. As far as the moderators, it's all about the money.

I think the questions were okay, a little tabloid this time. Not as good as the last FNC debate though. I did enjoy Trump not being there but the fight between Cruz and Rubio, to me, took up too much valuable time. Time that could have been spent talking about their strengths, differences and policy. I really enjoyed Chris last night. He was spot on with comments on needing a dictionary to convert "Washingtonese" to English. He was clearly trying to tie both Rubio and Cruz to establishment politics. Bush....Establishment to the max and is who Hillary and Chelsea want to win the Republican nomination. Kasich.....Old school establishment guy and is like a broken record. Nothing changed for him.
