Today just isn't my day. First I have the issue with Leather Up and their return policy and I just got a phone call from Dennis Quaid from the Treasury Department saying I owe back taxes and it is urgent that I call him to satisfy this terrible situation or else I will be arrested for tax evasion.
My world is in shambles.
It's a good I guess I kept his phone # 805-823-0402

I was laying in bed the other morning, not answering the ringing phone, but listening to the machine tell me I was in trouble with my taxes. That always gets your attention (and ends your sleep). So I got up, googled the phone number and found about a hundred hits. (mine and yours were not the same number, but it's the same BS) https://www.google.com/search?q=805-823-0402&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8I'm into creative capitalism and everything, but I'd really like to see guys like this get creative sentencing.... it is the order of this court that each and every person you called with this fraudulent scheme gets to kick you in the nuts. Prosecution exhibit #12 shows this to be about 200,000 people, so if you survive this, we'll have you back to discuss prison time. |

My answer machine is my friend. If I don't recognize the number or if it's a 'private' caller, I let the answer machine give the spiel about it is screening my calls and please leave a message. If it's important, a message will be left, if it's Bull shi**ters no message is left.
Seems to work for me.

i have a contact on my cell phone called spam, and it is set up to go directly to voice mail, if some one calls and it turns out to be a spammer or a scammer or unwanted solicitation, i put them in that contact..if its important they will leave a message, funny i never had a message left..my spam contact list contains about a hundred numbers and the calls are almost nil...

when this call came I was unable to get to the phone which is unfortunate because I have what my wife calls "the skill to drive people crazy" when the mood hits. I hate talking on the phone but when I know I'm being BS-ed I can usually trump them all, waste their time, talk in circles and drive people crazy.

My wife gets the same kick out of me - I can usually get the caller to hang up on me in less than a minute! |

Hey I had a different one yesterday. Got a Txt Message saying that I had an inheritance and to reply to a "gmail" address. Since I know no one who would leave me money, I looked up the address on Google. Yeah, it is a cool scam. RATS!!!!
Do like to talk to others who call if not busy.

Many years ago a friends of mine had a debt collector after him and somehow got my name, I guess because at one time we were roommates for about a year and we're both from the same home town.
So anyway, after a long long call which I was not providing any information the guy starts threatening me with obstruction and saying I'm harboring a criminal I tell him OK,OK.
I tell him,"The family didn't want people to know and this was very private information but as you know "Joe" worked in Louisianna for a time in a casino. Well he had left that job for another job in Arizona and while driving through a desolate part of the highway he was involved in an accident with another vehicle and an entire family was killed but he wasn't at fault." At this point the guy on the other end is silent. "I told him "Joe" was unable to cope with it and it drove him crazy so the family had to put him away in a psychiatric hospital." The guy was floored, I had him apologizing to me for bothering me. I insisted that his upmost decresion and professionalism would be greatly appreciated and to please stop bothering his family and friends as we are all trying to get through this and pray "Joe" gets the help he needs to get well again.
My wife was sitting there with her mouth wide open and amazed with how easy it just flowed out shaking her head. She said too bad you can't find a job where you could put that to use because we'd be filthy rich. I told her I can only do it for fun, I don't know why but it's always been that way.
