Recently, many times when I've been typing a post the screen will suddenly flicker then come back with a message: whoops....and then some gibberish about connections. The result, everything is blank and my epistle is lost with it. Just now, for the umpteenth time, I was posting something....this time in Classifieds. Got the description done and two of the three pics entered, just about to click paste on the third and last pic and BLIP.....it's all gone again. I don't get that on any other sites I visit so I'm not sure just what the cause might be. Guess I'll go have another cup of coffee to calm my nerves. Almost enough to make you forget what you learned in Sunday School.  Grin

If it's my computer, I'd sure like to know what/how to correct it but doesn't seem to be "my" problem. Oh well, not as though I'm punching a clock anymore but still gets under your skin eventually.

John

You're not alone.

I have had the flickering also, when it occurs,  I click again on the page; and it stops flickering and goes back to normal.
This only occurs on this site. I am using Safari as my browser.
I also noticed the site is getting slow again on occasion.
I guess our dues aren't enough for the IT section (Willow?) to sic the geeks on it!

the site 1st page loads fast  but its taking 20-40 seconds to load pages or post

It is the going to general board and then posting either on a thread or PM that is slower these past few weeks

No idea why, computers is not my area of expertise

I have tried different browsers....no luck. There is definitely something going on with the site. This is the second or third time mentioning it.
Other sites I go to are lightning fast compared to this one.

It has spells, earlier tonight tried to read a personal message, it took 6 minutes for it to load.  Some times get sever not available.   Other sites work fine.

Those 3.5 floppys we're hard compared to the 5.25 floppys my first real computer takes.  Yes, takes....I still have it.  Sanyo MBC675, keyboard covers the green mono screen and dual 5.25 floppy drives.  Carry handle on the side of the case.   Instead of laptop....think suit case.   Still got it, still works....but not with any of today's programs.     Used to use some Xerox PCs that used 8in floppy discs....and those drives sounded like grinding gears at times.  But none of those would handle the speed of even a slow VRCC page load.

It seems that it "will or will not" let me see pictures that have been posted in a thread,  depending on how it feels at the time.

That would not be the site, Wewaman.  That would likely be on your provider's end.  The site will always present you with the link to the picture.

Depending on where I am and which provider I'm using some block links to certain sites where the pictures are held.  My home provider doesn't.

If there's a single picture that won't show regardless of where you are it could be that that picture is no longer at the url that was pointing to it.  That will happen if someone links to a picture on Photobucket and the deletes the picture in Photobucket.

Willow, pictures aside, the site is super slow.
When I hit reply to reply to your message it took 11 seconds to switch to the screen I am writing on.
Navigation around the site is super slow as well.
Same browser, other sites, ..... other sites are much, much faster. Something is not right.
