No offense intended to the poster, but the text removed was simply not true.  Additionally, I (personally) see no reason to continue throwing gasoline on the fire.

it truly is surprising to me....in this day and age....how many of my friends at work forward TONS OF STUFF...without ever checking it out! it's SOOOOO easy to go check snopes or any number of sites. and in defense of others/anyone who forward stuff....i'm NOT trying to give you a hard time. I'm just saying, it really amazes me how many emails i get each day at work...with these HUGE headers of many, many email addresses of folks who have forwared the stuff on to all their friends....who then forward to all of theirs...and so on...and so forth....ad nauseum. And again, it's just shocking that either NO ONE checks the stuff and says "hey, wait a minute, this is clearly false"...or....if they do, they don't take the time to say anything to anyone. or maybe they do like I do...and reply JUST to the sender...and say "busted....check snopes...here is the link...."  Sometimes when i do that, responsible senders send out an apology and say "whoops". But often, when i send out the "busted" message...PRIVATELY...so the person can try and save face....sadly, they do NOTHING. i would think they would immediately send out a "whoops....BS...alert".  Often, instead....they send a scathing reply to me ...basically telling me to mind my own business  

hey, many times.....i'll admit....i read something like this...and....PART OF ME...wants to believe it is true....IF...it furthers MY BELIEFS. but then, the "fair side" of me says "nope, better check it out....it sounds fishy" ......even if deep down i wanted to believe it COULD be true........  Often, it's just more BS..........

In my business, the networking business, we actually consider EMAILS that are sent with stuff like this (and you know you've all gotten a ton of them no doubt!)....with all those "forward this to all your friends ..." schemes.....an actual sort of VIRUS. By forwarding this stuff over and over and over...to "all your friends"...the headers just keep growing...and the traffic keeps multiplying...and soon, network bandwidth is occupied with stuff like this...and email servers are full of with emails with HUGE headers from all the forwards!

anyway, all i'm saying is...again...i'm amazed how few folks check this stuff out...............before sending/posting. But then, i might be easily amazed  

PS.....it's sad i have to add this, but i've learned from past experience. i am NOT, repeat NOT attacking the author of THIS thread or ANYONE else in particular. I'm merely making an observation on a subject i deal with at work often. I felt if i didn't make this 'disclaimer', there almost always seems to be someone that goes on the offensive for no reason....so hopefully, I've covered my bases now

Yep, a lot of BS out there on those internets for sure! I feel your pain Tim, I get many e-mails  with dubious factoids. A couple of folks that give me these drive-by mailings aren't too happy when I've sent back fact check sites pertaining to their posts so now I just check 'em, sigh, shake my head and get on wit it. What are ya gonna do?

got another one today....from a friend on another bike board. Forward this to 5.5 billion of your friends, and Applebee's will send you a $50 gift certificate for a meal at their restaurant. Right..........yea.............sure...........

and yet, it gets forwarded on and on and on and on and.......................................

It's a virus in affect.........

also got the one about how Budweiser removed beer from stock at some store where Muslims were laughing. that one was busted 6.7 giga years ago. And yet....................it still .................gets forwarded on and on and on and................   10 seconds on Snopes.....bam....busted. I still just can't understand in this day and age...how folks can't take a minute to check this stuff before they forward it on? It's just good responsible Internet responsibilty/manners. you check.....good to go? FORWARD away......  NOT TRUE. STOP...DO NOT SEND!!!!!!!!!

Just got one, again, myself.  Thing is , I believe "Snopse" is a tool of the Left but don't know where to check them out.   ???
