WTH!  I was 5 when I first drove a two ton farm truck, by myself!  It was only on our farm, not road though. Had to wait til 8 for that!  Had a ND drivers license at 12, allowed me to drive any vehicle, anywhere in ND, as long as it was on farm business!

Well, the 9 year old and the 11 month old were the only ones not drunk and you can't expect an 11 month old to drive...duh.

That's pretty close to how I grew up...

By age 13 I was driving a John Deere pulling dual trailers full with 25+ tons of sugar cane down the road.  While that was perfectly legal (harvest season and all), It was not legal for me to drive the family sedan.   Cheesy

You think people have issues backing a trailer???  Imaging backing dual trailers down a sloppy, muddy road, and putting both down a specific row in a cane field.   Shocked

BTW... I didn't have A/C & Heat in my cab like today's farmers.  Hell, I didn't even have windows!!!

Ahhh... fun times.

Most farm kids drove before they were out of diapers. I went through school with what became one of my best friends. I had to keep him awake through most classes because he was up milking at 3:30 or 4:00 am. I don't know how these kids did it and in some cases still do!   cooldude

We all know those days of driving in early teen years and for some, before age 10,  are long gone in this country in most places.  Get caught doing that now and not only is the parent in big time trouble for allowing it,  the kid might not be able to drive when age 16 either.

The good old days of driving illegally just getting a slap on the wrist is all are few and far between. We have other issues though on the road now which are far worse like texting and other cell phone use.  My teenage daughter is pretty darn good though turning off her cell phone even EVERY single time she is driving, she knows better, hope it sticks with her thru life although doubt it will when older, seeing as how much she texts and does other cell phone related crap while not driving.

This story takes the cake though of all time bonehead things to do.

I run north to my house in Baldwin Michigan quite a bit. It's only a 125 mile jaunt. I went Sunday and was hard pressed to not see people either driving, riding passengers, or both without their head in their lap texting or reading one. Some just blatantly doing so. Phone up on the steering wheel. Now the girls are wearing big sun glasses so they think no one can tell they are texting. Ya, right!

If I was younger I would go to school to be a chiropractor. Not too many people will be able to look straight ahead in a few years. We used to go for a ride when I was a kid and even now to see what we could see. Might see a deer, a pheasant (there is a rare one around here) or whatever. But, you went to get out of the house and your usual surroundings. Don't think many see what is going on around them anymore and it is a shame.    ???

Same rules in Kansas. I was hauling hay with a a ford tractor to the barn when I was seven, my older brother, (nine) ran the bailer while my dad tossed the bails on the hay wagon.  Best days of my life.  Hoser
