Mary Lapkowicz, the young lady in this story, is the niece of my BIL, Vic.  I've never met Bill Moser, but hope to some day.  Seems like a fine, young man.

I agree, that was a GREAT story. I think some people just have good character from birth. The story reminded me of my son in a very small way. He was a very thoughtful and kind kid. In his third grade class was a Down's syndrome kid. She was a little on the mean side and didn't get along very well with the other kids. Kids being kids she was shunned by most of them but to my sons credit he always stuck up for her and never let anybody pick on her. He has gotten into some trouble growing up and didn't always make good decisions but that story reminded me what a good kid he was . The young man in the story sounds like someone who is going to go far in life.  cooldude

I know what you mean, My son Eric was similar.  He got into more than his share of trouble in school, but he and a couple of his friends belonged to a thing called Circle of Friends.  They kind of looked out for kids that were different, and subject to bullying and such.  They stuck up for and defended them, and included them in their social circle.  I was always proud of him for that.

great story, made that girls life easier to deal with for sure.  Sure hope the other mean girls at school did not make matters worse during or after the dance.  Knowing first hand how daughters/girls that age can be to one another in high school,  sometimes I think the girls are much more mean spirited than the boys in high school by far.  Most guys that age could care less, but the girls in high school can be so mean spirited is unreal.

surely a different era than in decades past.  Instead of duking it out with fists,  they text and send snap chat garbage to one another near daily.  I personally HATE it and think it is a total waste of time.   How many of us daily literally send selfies of yourself to your friends to see?  Reasoning? Why?
