Today me and Carolyn went to a favorite out-of-the-way restaurant for breakfast...
Stanley Steamer has been there before...

As usual, I hated mine...

The lady on the left, Miss Wanda, runs the place...

Here's what they have for supper on Saturdays...

They cater to fishermen, and have a little five room cinderblock motel that
is supposed to be real clean... $50 a night for a two-bed room. The restaurant
is always crowded with cars when they are open.

The restaurant part sells six-packs of three or four kinds of beer, and
expensive no-ethanol gas... and breakfast every morning...

Seems like a good place for small groups to gather for small rides...

Is that Grits and Groceries?

Nope, Waldrop's Restaurant... it is in one of the earliest areas that was
developed after Lake Hartwell was filled up in 1963 or so... they are right
up from one of the first places to put in, it was built before the lake was all
the way full, and the concrete ramp reaches a lot further out than most,
which is handy during a drought - lots of ramps become unusable.

Anywho... it is also in one of those "you can't get there from here"
places, cut off by the lake... no reason to go through there (you can't)
you have to be going there on purpose... you don't pass any neighborhoods
filled with McMansions out there, just farms, and then right on the lake,
mostly little houses that have been there since the 60s...

The food at Waldrop's is mostly "meat and three" style food... it is all good,
but not on the same level as Grits and Groceries... I mostly eat breakfast
there, the eggs are good, sausage made just down the road a few
miles at McAdams and they can make grits right too. Stanley sez
the biscuits and gravy are "like Mamas"...

You can get the sausage on Fridays at this place... that's the only time I've
ever seen any cars there... the google-mobile must have gone by on a
Friday...
