It would be a 957 mile ride for me. I however really want to experience this event before it is no more. Starting to plan now.

Pardon me if I am missing something, but was an address posted for the location of the actual Gathering place? I have my hotel booked, just wondering where I go from there.

Will do, thank you.

Now I'm expecting directions like;

- From Gas Station X travel 1.3 miles to a big oak tree on the left.
- Wait for 3 gun shots before heading another 2.45 miles.
- Under a dark colored rock at the end of a long rock wall you will find a box containing a recipe for a bbq sauce.
- If you can identify the region the bbq sauces recipe is from...

Left at Albuquerque sounds like Interstate highway, you are missing some nice scenic roads if that's your route. Just down the road from you is La Junta where you can pick up Hwy109 south to Hwy160 east to Hwy287 south to Campo. After Amarillo, the routes to Houston abound without hitting another major city. Texas, "A Whole Nuther Country".

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Agreed. My current route will be cuting off at Raton, and B roads all the way into Houston. Since I will we working in Austin 2 days after the gathering I expect to explore west Texas on the way back. With the addition of a belly tank getting off the beaten path and exploring won't be a worrysome.
