She and her husband and the two kids still at home flew in last Sunday, went home today. Being from the Green Bay area it was a good break for them since our weather was in the 70's almost every day. Last evening, she met up with some of her old gal friends for late afternoon food and gab fest. Later they brought her back to the house and like old times.....they were all on transmit, none on receive.  Grin  When they got here, they all ran up to me, gave me a big hug and called me "dad" just like 30+ years ago. Kind of a good feeling actually, a bunch of women....all mothers and some professionals in their chosen vocation, in their late 40's and acting like it was only last week the entire bunch had a sleepover. Oh brother.....I'll NEVER forget those, and I pitied the poor guys they were dating at the time. Imagine two and sometimes three of your four daughters having a PJ party on the same weekend. And to think I still have my sanity.....yessir.....twitch, twitch! It always helped for me to just sit and count the Flamingos flying by, or talking to the little green men, or simply sitting in the corner rocking back and forth and talking to the wallpaper. You miss those times.   Cheesy crazy2

My other remaining daughter is coming in three days for her oldest daughter's wedding, getting remarried at age 36. She'll be here a week, taking a break from her job in central Illinois and really looking forward to it. So am I and the weather looks pretty goof for her visit as well.  cooldude

Good for you John.  It's nice to have the kids around for a while once they've left the nest.  Like you said... brings back old times that were precious. cooldude

Always enjoy reading your posts about your daughters, as they seem to mirror in many ways the closeness of my own relationship with my girls. It appears that I am about 10 - 15 years behind you with my girls now in their later 20's, but they have been on their own for a while with one married and the other almost, so its easy to relate to your stories about reminiscing. As I am quick to volunteer or reply anytime I am asked, my life's greatest accomplishments have been, and will always be my daughters.  cooldude

Waaay back when, I know some didn't have a dad....either through divorce or death of some type. But generally they liked having me around because they could tease and I'd give it right back. Plus, when the place was in absolute turmoil I didn't raise a fuss. My girls called me dad or daddy, their friends just seemed to pick up on the closeness. Believe me, I saw more than I ever wanted to see during some of those gatherings. Now when I see one of them, I tease by saying I should chat with their husbands, sorta fill him in on what they did at some of those parties. We all have fun with it, guess that's what counts, my girls never felt like they couldn't bring their friend(s) home with them.

As for my granddaughter getting hitched at 36, it's the second time around for her. The first guy was a real loser, a documented mental case and at times thought he was Sugar Ray....especially after a few beers. I met him one time and told my wife I didn't think it would last long. It didn't. She's now met a guy that seems to have really fallen for her in a big way so I wish her the best. Just wish I didn't have to go to the wedding Friday, but her mom needs a ride.  Lips Sealed
