I know sometimes I post some stuff other may not like or find goofy and I'm not posting it about the amount of the settlement. It's more to the point that I've never heard of this before and I do read news quite a bit. Also, if nobody else heard of this before either it might be something to pass along to the women in your life.

I know when my daughters were little...well let's just say baby powder was used quite often to powder their bottoms.

Forgot to add this...which I found in the article comment section

From the American Cancer Society

Studies in people

Ovarian cancer

It has been suggested that talcum powder might cause cancer in the ovaries if the powder particles (applied to the genital area or on sanitary napkins, diaphragms, or condoms) were to travel through the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes to the ovary.

Many studies in women have looked at the possible link between talcum powder and cancer of the ovary. Findings have been mixed, with some studies reporting a slightly increased risk and some reporting no increase. Many case-control studies have found a small increase in risk. But these types of studies can be biased because they often rely on a person’s memory of talc use many years earlier. Two prospective cohort studies, which would not have the same type of potential bias, have not found an increased risk.

For any individual woman, if there is an increased risk, the overall increase is likely to very be small. Still, talc is widely used in many products, so it is important to determine if the increased risk is real. Research in this area continues.

SO THERE YOU HAVE IT. Prospective cohort studies in humans, the most reliable form of research, shows no increased risk. It is recognized elsewhere by the ACS that talc with asbestos, when inhaled, can cause lung cancer. I doubt this J&J product contains asbestos anyway, and the ovaries are not the lung.

I've never put baby powder or talc on or near the seat of my Valks.
Well not yet at least.   Grin

Talc is a byproduct of mining asbestos. It was found to be a beneficial surface drying agent, thus the use for babies' bottoms. Talc is also used as a component in ceramic glazes. Wikipedia "talc and its uses" or just "talc". A product that was widely used was Shower-to-Shower was marketed to women as an after shower drying and " smell good" product was removed from shelves after a lawsuit claiming that it caused ovarian cancer.
