I've been to St Thomas and St Maartin (wrong side of road), and it's bad enough in a rental car there, I would not ride a bike there.  Hellacious traffic in the towns, crazy drivers, and not very far to go in any direction.  If you have a death wish, rent a scooter and you can have all the life risking excitement you can stand.

Plus, you couldn't pay me to cram into one of those big floating cities full of humanoids.

In St Maartin, while we were there, suddenly added a $100 per person EXIT tax on tourists, and would take only cash.  Only discovered this at the airport on departure, it took everything we had left and pocket change.. to leave (forever).  For all the world, just like an extortion racket.

Good friends of mine sold out and moved to St Croix (largest and cheapest US Virgin Islands) to build a home.  A few years in, tourism is way down, crime is way up, they got broken into while home twice, and they shitcanned the plan, put it in rental and moved back to FL.  He went through the drills to have his pistol with him, but you can't take yours on this cruise.

Would consider something if I was retired and wanted to go see South America (Argentina and Chile)

The first stop on our alaska cruise (great trip I recommend it)
when we got off the boat there was a motorcycle rental place

They had the same color and year Wing that Hayhauler had let me use at the GOTF so we
rented it for the whole day

Lots of fun hiking watching eagles from a few dozen yards below and beside them and watching them fish

We ran the 100 or so miles back and forth the length of the island that I believes is Ketchikan Alaska

oh bull crap. They would hook up the mighty GL 1500 motor and save the ship.

No worries.

We thought a lot about riding the roads while crusing in Hawai two weeks ago.  There is a road on Maui called the Road to Hana out of Kahului that is one and a half lanes and has over 600 curves.  We took in a 20 passenger bus and it is much tighter than US-129, the Tail of the Dragon.  I'm sure that I would not ride it on our beasts, but perhaps on a much lighter bike.

This cruse looks interesting, but I would prefer renting a motorcycle at each destination...
