Lets see, a construction worker may have found a knife on the property years ago, gives it to a LEO who keeps till he retires, and now someone thinks it may be of the knife that kill the gal.  Yeah right.  How about chain of custody.   If the knife has been in the ground, in someone home, what good it is?   Sounds like a play for the mini series that is playing now.
