a block from the house  after a wallyworld  visit crossing over a bridge while braking moderately with the front brake and crossing a lane to turn onto my street I hit a patch of sand I assume as the front tire locked up and I was going to highside as the bike did a low side....my angels saw me thru and everything popped upright---the late winter stuff is still out there..be mindful/careful!!!

Back in the day when my Great Uncle got discharge from the Navy he rode his HD the 2200 miles from San Diego, Ca. to Knoxville, Tn.
Next morning out & about to see some friends, hits a patch of sand 2 blocks from the house, puts the bike in the local city pond, & breaks his shoulder. Jus' goes to show, ya never know coolsmiley
Glad you were able to keep the shiny side up cooldude

Had a slippery moment on sand myself the other day.   Shocked  I was slow, but leaned over.  Buttpucker.

The bitch about sand is..... it's often invisible unlike gravel, oil, (wet) leaves/grass.

One of my least favorite things about riding, is spending hours happily riding my ride, then slipping around on sand or tiny gravel.  If I hit it once, I may hit it again, and soon.  It's a stealthy fun governor.

I expect bad mojo on the edges, in the corners and kicked out from driveways/dirt cross roads, not all over the dang road.

I had one of those a couple years ago, hit sand and the front slid, bike laid over to the point the engine guard touched the pavement. Just knew it was going down, then the tire got traction and the bike stood back up.  Pucker factor real bad, I parked it for about 20 min to get my chit back together. We get lots of that stuff on the roads in Florida.

HATE that pea gravel sand mix that's the same color as the pavement!  Undecided  Fast approaching that time of year when they will be brush hogging the right of ways and blowin it on the highway!  uglystupid2 Part of that situational awareness thingy doncha know.  Roll Eyes I have an intersection with a stop sign just below my Lacasa that more often than not has  LOT of gravel in it.  crazy2 AND that entire intersection is paved.  tickedoff We have some SERIOUS rain due here in the next few days-fore casts to 7 inches of rain-that SHOULD take the last of the winter grit off most of the roads. Ya rollz yer dice and yuse takes yer chances.  Lips Sealed RIDE SAFE.
