I got plenty of soul!!! Kia doesn't make any of it. On a serious note, some friends of mine bought a Kia car (though no the Soul). Price was good compared to other manufacturers. So far, they haven't had any major issues with it. It's about 3 years old now (don't know the mileage on it). So, while I don't have any personal experience, my friends have been happy with their Kia (of course, not a Soul). Wish I could help more.

Looked at and test drove several with one of my daughters who was purchasing a new car last year. While she really liked the somewhat quirky looks of the Soul , both she and I found that it didn't handle very well (quite loose and unresponsive) and was underpowered. Was reasonably comfortable inside. For the prices they were selling for, she decided to forgo the somewhat "cool" looking Soul and went with her original choice, a VW Jetta

I have a 2012, and like it very much. 29 mpg consistantly. Ride like a small car, but also handles like a small car. Took a 6000 mile road trip last year, get the + or exclaim model. I would buy again. No issues so far at 35000 miles...

know a tad about them, a lady I know has one and likes it overall for price paid. Cheap car to purchase new or used and with a 5/60k warranty and 100K powertrain warranty (if bought new) just like every Kia/Hyundai. The shorter wheelbase rides pretty rough IMO even worse than a smaller car, but not by much. MPG is o.k. but should be better since most 4 cylinder cars get 35-38 mpg and this being also small will get 30 mpg or so at most usually.
Definite trade offs on buying a Kia Soul vs. say a Hyundai Elantra small car for almost same money, with the edge being cheaper to get a Kia Soul. Ride will be rougher/choppier by a tad, tad cheaper to purchase though, but if you can get by with the square look, is much easier to get in/out than a lower to the ground smaller car like the Hyundai Elantra.
Good, cheap transportation though for the price paid, but could have better mpg IMO.

We have the worlds largest Kia dealer here in Cape Coral. Fuccilo Kia. Sells up words of 2000 cars a month. Has generally 2000 cars in stock any given time. Driving at 50 miles an hr takes about 1 minute to drive past his lot. I think right now buy a car get 1000 cash back. 7 day cruise for 2 on royal Carabean and get a chance to throw a basket ball. Hit the basket get the car free 1000 and the cruise. He has given a way new house with a new car and many other crazy offers over the last few years. He gave away 4 free cars last month. Been going on for 4 -5 yrs now. Every one seems to like the cars.

My youngest daughter has one. She likes it. Gets right on down the road here with our 75mph roads everywhere and gets about 30mpg.

I've owned one Kia and it was bulletproof - only died because it was totaled in a wreck. I have friends with the Soul who love them - they don't break. Mileage is not a strong point for such a small car.
We looked a Soul the last time we went looking for a small, cargo friendly vehicle for my wife to use in her business. We ended up with a Honda Fit because it held more cargo, had a lower load point in the rear and got better mileage. Easier to get into. Plus it was a Honda, a brand we are very happy with.

The Kia might make a nice Key West car, it would fit right in.
I just couldn't bring myself to buy one, JMO.
TR brought up Fuccillo. Billy played football for SU, so, he is a good ' HUGE' upstate New York guy. The man has dealerships all over now and sells cars by the bazillions.

wow, 5 years old and under 10K miles, what a find in any vehicle.
I know they don't have great resale value used, but having a 'like new' low mileage used one for say 5-8K off brand new, is a score.
I know brand new can be had very easily for under 18K, but getting one that old with very low mileage at am sure 5-8K off that full msrp price, is a good deal in my eyes.
The problem I see around me is 2-3 year old USED vehicles the dealer is asking NEAR BRAND NEW pricing and won't budge much off their asking price much which they already know is way too high thinking they will get a sucker to buy it for near asking price. Why spend say 15.5K on a 2 year old Hyundai Sonata with 30K miles on it while a brand new one with O miles cost me 17.7K out the door pricing having another 2 years on the warranty as well and 0 vs. 30,000 miles??

Had a Kia sportage bought used. Cute POS. After about 1 year with 80000 something miles it blew the #4 spark plug out taking the threads with it. Cost $800 to fix and 1 month. A week later the oil pump went out, shop wanted another $800. It sat in my garage for 1 1/2 years before I calmed down enough to pull it apart and replace the oil pump. Remove the front cover ,timing chain, exhaust front diff. , oil pan,cam covers just to get at the pump. Replace everything in reverse. Got it running and sold it a week later. Now I have a Ford fi50 and a Buick. Korea can keep its junk.

I've got a 2007 Kia Sorento......105,000+ miles with only 2-3 minor issues.....the earlier year models had an engine that required a timing belt chain replacement around 60K....I made sure my year model was a new engine that didn't require it.......it still runs like a scalded dog....much like the Valk......

IMO, Kia/Hyundai prior to 2011 were hit or miss and not on par with their quality from 2011 to current. I own 2 Hyundai's (sonata and santa fe) and both are on par with Toyota/Honda quality IMO and cheaper to purchase as compared to a camry or RAV4/highlander. Santa fe is bigger than a Rav4, but more on par with the Highlander which is pricier.
So far, knock on wood, no issues since 2011.

We bought a '15 Sedona in July. 3 weeks and 1400 miles later, still middle of summer and 100+ degs it just up and quit on the wife and 2 grandkids, at 12 noon!!!
Took the wrecker (from the same town) till 5:30 to pick it up!!
Turned out to be a faulty computer (supposedly). It has other strange perks - like rear wipers cut on all by themselves, automatic rear doors won't shut all the way, computer says we get 22-23 MPG but our figuring has it a 17-18 MPG (maybe they do math different in Korea).
The multiple times we've brought it in for repairs the mechs "check" it but have never found anything wrong!
This will probably be the last Kia we buy!!

take it several times in the first year you own it and if so many times in for same problem in 1st year, file most likely in your state magnusson-moss act and get a lawyer in your state involved with buyouts from mfg. I had to do that twice once for a toyota RAV4 and once for chevy cavalier both times I won my case and buyout was more than what the vehicle was worth by a tad plus mfg. paid all lawyer fees. There are lawyers I think in most states who do that and do not charge you a fee at all unless they win the case but you have to save all repair orders from dealer and submit them to the lawyer for review before they will officially say yes or no to represent you and they do all the work. I say if go in 4-5 times in first year for same exact problem and still present, then a consumer deserves to get out of the vehicle (similar to lemon law) for what the cost of the new vehicles are today.
