I don't know if you can tell from the picture. But I bought one of those really tall inflatable mattresses and I highly recommend it. Makes it a lot easier for an old man to get up and down. Only thing is you need a campsite with power.

Haven't yet but hope to do some on a proposed trip this spring/summer out west. We'll see, old bones may drive me to motels. Have very rudimentary equipment cause like Meathead, I don't have a trailer. Good quality mountain tent and sleeping bag. Dense foam pad and small pillow to elevate my head. Trying to convince my wife to go with me but that means motels for sure.

Mr. Whiskey, you eat better camping than I get at home. Pretty impressive spread . Nice trailer too. Sugar gets ALL the credit! Incredible cook, and she found the trailer on Craigslist We used to fight about "overloading" the 15cf, but when we got the Aerodyne I quit arguing & told her "the tongue weight caint exceed 35lbs, period". The next time she "threw the kitchen sink at it", I checked it with the luggage scale, 52lbs, & she repacked it! We've since come to an understanding It's not "firm" yet (Sugar's got a new job) but looks like our week long stay's gonna be July 15th thru the 24th if ya wanna come ride some BRP, Devils Whip, Diamondback! Campground's 2600' up N. side of Mt. Mitchell so cooler & almost no bugs, got hot showers, flush toilets, sells firewood & ice, rents tubes, country market 1/10 mile away, or there's a couple of clean motels local. You caint beat the roads, or the river Bro, trust me!Natchez Trace I didn't eat as good as Whiskey Man Nothin' like steaks over an open wood flame (& I've since quit using lighter fluid). It's alot easier to eat good when you're goin' & stayin' in the same place for a few days. That's why we decided on the cargo trailer as opposed to a camper, so we can set up then pull the empty back down the mountain, drop $200 on a weeks worth of groceries, go back & move in! We got a guy that brings us a pick-up truck load of seasoned firewood for $50, & helps unload & stack it. (Pretty good hustle sellin' firewood in July, haha!) We're usually back from ridin' before dusk (to avoid forest rats ) start the fire, evening swim, cook over the coals, then build a fire you can see from space! (Keeps the bears away!) Some days we don't even touch the bike, spend all day tubin' the river, bein' lazy, gettin' fat(er)! It's always hard to leave We're goin' Memorial Weekend if ya wanna come check it out. Hwy 80 South of Burnsville, Nc. Carolina Hemlocks Campground. Holla, I'll throw a chair on a site for ya

Whiskey you got quite the spread there. I can tell this isn't your first rodeo doing this...moto camping. I'll have to keep an eye on the weather for that weekend. Memorial Day, tubing down the creek would be a good time if thee water isn't that cold. That time of the year I like it to be bath water warm. Damn like that crazy awning you got over your mini mate. Where do you find something like that and you can pack that into your camper. Nice

Mr Whiskey,
Not sure if you mean the tent or trailer. The tent is German made and is called a Skandika Milano 6, it cost me 380 of my British Pounds, around 540 USD.
The trailer is home built, I made it several years ago. The poor little thing is in need of a repaint which I might get round to this summer.
We also carry a full size orthopaedic air bed which is fantastic.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

If your camping lite I use a small backback tent. Cheap and throw-away-able. A sleeping bag and air mattress of your choice. Ive done 2 weeks in a 7'x9'x4' tent, solo. Have to stand outside to change your underwear and put your pants on. They have no windows so that sucks. I do have a bigger tent for 2 up. This my set up on the bike yrs ago. Camped a week at Sturgis so I have everything. Pots, pans, propane stove, tent, sleeping bag, tent, air mattress, and chair. Plus my clothing, leathers, helmet, etc. Spent the 2nd week in MT, WY, NE, but hoteled it.

I bought one of the air mattress inflator pumps that had alligator clips for a 12V battery. I cut off the alligator clips and stuck a 2 prong SAE connector onto it. Now, I just plug the air mattress pump into the bikes trickle charger plug and I have power to blow up the air mattress. Allan

I can't sleep on the ground anymore, just hurts to much to get back on my feet! Last year I spent several nites on the road"on the cheap". GREAT NIGHTS SLEEP.... will never sleep on the ground again. Camping hammock, 6x8 tarp, straps and some cord all fit in a small bag. then therre are the cabins at KOA. most are over priced but I have found some for $33... I am up and on the road at sunrise so simple is the way to go for me. - Mike

"On the cheap" caught my eye . Can you elaborate a bit? Was planning on state and national parks.

"On the cheap" caught my eye . Can you elaborate a bit? Was planning on state and national parks. Do a search on Amazon, got my "Hammock" for about $30. another aspect of the cheap part is it's not that hard to find 2 trees to tie off to. When tent camping there is always that search for that perfect spot. All I need is 2 trees about 14 paces apart. Rig only takes about 10 minutes to hang.... The one pic without the tarp is a setup I had at a free city park campground in Nosepick, Kansas. I was setup using the posts under a picnic pavillion.... if you look hard enuff in the west there are free caamp grounds at a lot of the smaller towns. I have also found campgrounds will give a reduced rate if I setup tween 2 trees off to the side not really taking a site... don't need level, rock free location. The tree canopy actually helps shed water in rain as well. NOTE- some of the parks may be adamant about not tieing off to the trees. I have had to assure them that I was using straps, not ropes, which when done properly will not leave a mark.... Mike
