A friend is one who takes me for what I am.

Cleveland, Tennessee

« on: March 16, 2016, 05:04:02 PM »

It has been one year since my health went south on me, and now the virus I have in my system has done a number on my kidneys. I am in the starting stages of renal failure. Hopefully I won't have to have dialysis or transplant just more tweaking of meds. It has been a very hard year for me, with the only good thing was being able to be my son's best man at his wedding in may.
I have decided to sell my last Valkyrie, I was holding off selling it hoping I would be back in the saddle this summer, but that dream is now gone. I will always be surfing this site and will occasionally jump in on a good subject. Even though I'm selling the valk doesn't mean I have given up fighting, those who know me well, know I'm full of piss & vinegar and have beaten death many times before... I guess it just gives me something to do. LOL  Anyways if anyone you know is interested in a very nice interstate check out the classifieds.

God bless, hoping for the best.  It takes time, I spent nearly two years recuperating from getting run over in Joplin.  I wish I had kept a Valkyrie, at the time I thought It was over.  Happily cruising along now on a vintage Goldwing.  My 17 year old youth pastor grandson just looked over my shoulder and said a prayer for you as I write this. +1 it is a BEAUTIFUL bike  cooldude Speaking from a strictly selfish point of view your post saddens me. I have always had a hope of making it out your way and riding with the "Wild Bunch". The Wild Bunch ain't going to be the same without T-Bird riding in it. I do hope your health improves. I do hope you come around here more often, I've always enjoyed your posts.

I never got to meet you personally just know you from the site seen you at an Inzane before never got a chance to visit.  I had been wondering how you were making out.  Life can be pretty tough at times not just for you but for all of us.  Just remember the blessings god gave you and be thankful for that.  I got a feeling you will ride again one day.  In your honor your vrcc name TBird will be on my bike from Texas to West Virginia for Inzane.

Have you thought about triking the Valk or getting one of those polaris slingshots ?

WOW! Really hate to hear this news, Terry... You have proven to be one 'Tough Bird', though, so I'm confident you'll deal with this with your usual class and resilience. However things work out, you have been an inspiration to all of us who've been privileged to know you, and especially those of us who have shared the road with you. Please allow me to add my name to the long list of folks willing to help however you might need us. The man you are has contributed hugely to the 'quality' of our group, and we all appreciate you choosing to be among us. Looking forward to seeing you again... whatever vehicle you might be riding in or on...

We will all eventually have to make such a decision as our bodies break down while our trusty Valkyries just go on and on.  As Serk said, I hope that I will be able to sell my Valkyrie with the same resolve as you are showing.  Prayers to you as you continue your healing.

Terry,
I'm not understanding why it is that you have to give up riding. I have been in stage three renal insufficiency for years now and I just went on the chicken run with Trout Dude, DDT and Crazyhorse. Is there something in your post I'm missing? I'm beginning to lose function in my legs and staring not walking right in the face so I can sympathise. Don't let go of your bike just yet. I did and had to go out and buy new ones and then spend all the time and money outfitting them to the point that best suits me. Worked trout Dude's fingers to the bone. Just think about it.

When I head out on a ride, I mean a ride where I meet up with Fellow Valk riders, there are a few favorite folks that I look for right off the bat when I get to ground zero, T-Bird has always been one of them.  I first met Terry at the MI inzane and knew he was one of those guys that it just seemed like you knew him forever.  I haven't gotten to ride with him enough, but will always cherish the few times I did.  He is one of a kind, and I like the way he talks.  Truly a good man.  Those of you that haven't had the pleasure of meeting him, need to make the effort.

I wish you the best my friend, and hope everything works out for you.  Riding isn't everything but it is 95% of everything.  Please don't let selling your bikes keep you from staying in touch and showing up at events, because we really don't get to know each other riding, we get to know each other in the parking lot kicking tires and telling lies.

You and Gig need to make your big announcement, and I hope to see you soon, I ALWAYS look forward to it.
