Storm rolled through Clarksville St. Patricks Day...we took serious damage at both our properties.

Thanks to the help of my friends and neighbors, I’ve downgraded from “completely overwhelmed” to just an “Awww crap” level.

My belief is that the storm was over confident.  It obviously had no idea with whom it was messing.

Tough turn, Daniel.  It's going to be some hard work.  It's good that you are who you are.

Been following along on Facebook, but it hurts to see it all put together like that...

I hate to ask, but I have to... Any insurance on either the Old Vic or The Cupola building?

Bummer Daniel, I was always amazed at how hard you work on renovating your properties.  It's just a shame that this happened after all that work.

Old Vic should be covered. No hazard insurance on the Cupola Building.

Dang Daniel that storm cell looked wicked.  Maybe these long cold winters aren't so bad after all.

Man that is heartbreaking.  Undecided I've never seen a storm cloud like that. It looks like some giant aerial Grey Whale. I think Willow was right, that storm had no idea who it was dealing with. It's good to have helpful, thoughtful friends.  cooldude

In the "Misery loves company" department, at least this didn't happen to you (yet)...

That just leaves THREE roofs, ONE car, TWO trucks, at least TWENTY windows, and a bunch of ceiling tiles and insulation to replace...

Geeze Dan,

You've had so much rotten luck lately you're sure to have a windfall of good luck around the corner some where. I'd say start buying lottery tickets but so,etimes it's not just the money that makes us feel good or lucky, but it sure doesn't hurt none either.

I hope the tide turns in your favor soon. All the best to you guys.

I would have never predicted that one of the questions I would be asking myself yesterday morning was, "Does my water-heater *really* need a wi-fi connection???"

Ask yourself that again after they steal your bank account by
hacking your water heater (or your light bulbs) ... it's not case-hardened
up-to-date Linux they're embedding on the "Internet Of Things"...

If I hadn't of figured out why my garage door opener wasn't working last week, my potential new one could have had a wiffy (as my kids call it) connection.

Let's see...wife's ride...aka Da' Altima...aka "Dimples" saw the insurance guys a couple days ago....

Rinsed it off for them to be easier to see the damage (it was, once again, heavily covered in yellow pollen). Ah yes. Clean. The damage is spectacular.

Initial estimate is $8000+ in damage from the hail. Estimating 30 days in the shop.

Now...should I wait till hail season is over to take it in?

And...

Got Big Iron out of the transmission shop this morning...

Complete overhaul...including a new torque converter.

$2223.18.

I've often thought if I lived in a high hail risk area, I would consider a Rhino-lining paint job.

Not that pretty, but if it laughs hail off, not a bad way to go.  Plus no more washing and waxing, just hose it off now and then.  The sheet metal in cars today is barely more than aluminum foil anyway (and a bump shop windfall).

And I'm betting it could be sprayed over the damage, and a big chunk of the ins proceeds could go in the bank.
