Walked out the door this evening about 5:30 with the dogs. Got half way down the drive heard a pop,pop,pop,pop. Sounded like across the street 2 doors up. Distinct pistol shots. Very loud very close. Walked up the street begain to pass a house few doors up, looked across empty lot. Saw a neighbors house surrounded buy half dozen cops guns out carefully moving around building. Know the family and man involved. Was diagnosed with terminal cancer w/2-3 months to live. Apparently shot at cops who returned fire he ran back in house and shot himself. Nice guy and family. Waved and talked to him often walking their dog past our house. He told me a few months ago he had prostate cancer that they discoverd reciently which spread throughout his body. Seemed to be in good spirits at the time. Just had neighborhood watch meeting this last Sat talked to his wife that day. Looks like attempted death by cop situation. News this evening said police returned fire but apparently ended up shooting self. Very sad way to end it.
