A while back someone was posting that they were adding some driving lights to make themselves more visible to the cagers. Here is the front of my Big Girl on any normal day that I ride.

Now as a cage approaching head on, going to make a left turn, when you see this in front of you what should you do?
     A) Wait for all the lights to pass.
     B) Go ahead and make the turn, there is nothing there.

I have no idea which they will do but I always assume B. Yup, happened again just last week when I had the Girl out warming up the oil to do an oil change. Oh, there is also a headlight modulator on the 100W high beam.

Can you see me now?
Nope!

They really are out to get you!

Very nice.

The headlight modulator is the best part. I wouldn't ride without one.

I'm planning to install one soon. Has anyone been hassled by LEO with them?

They STILL git too cursed close when I ride-EVEN when I'm exceeding the posted speed limit.  Roll Eyes I also have 4-way flashers and I've been cut off in the middle of a couple of P G R escorts!  Lips Sealed Somebody wuz right when they said-you can't fix stupid!  tickedoff RIDE SAFE.

About the best you can do is add tons of light and assume they will cut you off anyway.  I run H4 spots on high on Jade, and A/C landing lights on Deerslayer.  Then hit the high beam (130 watts) when I see one about to cross my path - modulated on Deerlslayer, steady on Jade.  Both bikes also have another pair of smaller spots on the crash bars, running always.  Amazing how STUPID cagers can be. And now with cell phones, even worse.  Like they aren't already incompetent; they want to increase their inability even further by using the phone.

I have been running one for over five years with no problems. Have met many LEOs with no issues.

Only thing I have seen is an occasional pull over to the side of the road by a car. The driver is always a foreigner look alike that probably is new to this country and not sure what to do.

I do notice drivers waiting longer than normal for me to see what I am. I find myself doing the same thing in my cage when I see one coming.

I highly recommend them to everyone. And then add extra lights like Cracker has done and you have the best combination you can get.

In Wisconsin they are legal but not at night.  Mine has a sensor to shut it down at night.

Headlight modulators are legal in all states, they are under a federal statute that regulates the flash rate, the shut-off at dusk, and something else that I cannot remember as I write this. The only time I have ever been stopped because I was using a modulator was in east TX on a Suzuki 380-3 2-stroke but Barney had followed me for almost a hour and was just desperate for some reason to pull me over. Modulators were kind of a new thing then so I carried a copy of this http://www.webbikeworld.com/Motorcycle-technical-articles/Modulator-regs.htm in the duffel bag.

When riding with a group, those in front of you will find a modulator VERY annoying. That could be why most have a shut-off.

With the higher wattage headlight I do have some cagers pull to the shoulder to let me pass. I think they are mistaking the headlight for a strobe on an emergency vehicle. That led to a confrontation with some toothless wonders in northern AL that apparently felt I had made a fool of them (I guess?) when the driver pulled over to let me pass. (It was an interstate and I was going to pass them anyway.) That was on the only Hayabusa I have ever owned and it had legs and that afternoon I was glad it did. I don't believe I ever found where the clock stopped on that Hayabusa, nor did I have the desire too, but that afternoon was the closest I came to finding out.

Living in the land of cheese and brats, I can say without reservation there are just as many toothless wonders here as anywhere I have ever traveled. When the need to imbibe whatever the poison overtakes the need for personal hygiene, that would be my definition of a toothless wonder. Some may marry first cousins also but as a rule, I try to not find out too many of their personal quirks. I can honestly say while living here, I have met a fair number of people that while not the toothless wonder standard, are so stubborn they make gravity seem lenient. Again, I doubt it is a regional thing so much as it is my luck to find them.

Regarding my last post in this thread, the wife saw it as I was posting and mentioned that we are discussing one of her cousin’s ex’s. Just describe P is her suggestion so here goes.

In his case he actually had his teeth removed at age 27 since putting them in a glass at night is soooo much easier than brushing them twice a day. The one decent job he ever had, he quit during his divorce so he would not have to pay child support.  After his divorce he started living with the grandmother of his children (Jerry Springer?). She eventually threw him out for not paying anything toward rent, food or utilities on top of his apparent apathy towards soapy water. He then attempted to sue his ex-wife for back health insurance payments for when they were married and he was working. Where he found the shyster to file that still has me buffaloed. He is now living with his son who has no job, 2 children and a wife all being supported by our friendly state because the son and daughter-in-law are mentally disabled and cannot work a normal job. This quality group of folks has never left Milwaukee County for even a day (they may be afraid that Milwaukee won't let them back in once they've left). One of my wife’s brothers offered to drop his broken body in a nice quiet ditch somewhere when he showed up at the brother’s door demanding funds because he was a relative. Most of the cousin’s family helped in raising his children at one time or another while he was not around. P is now in his early 50’s, has not worked in over 10 years, and recently told one of the family that he is ready to retire and let social security take care of him. I am pretty sure he is the poster child of Toothless Wonder and his picture appears in Webster’s Dictionary next to the definition of lazy. It goes without saying that P may be dumber than a mud fence as well.

Not bringing anyone into anything, I just simply wonder why someone refers to southern people as inbred, toothless or otherwise? I have seen another reference to this on this board since I ask the question. (that is 3 in one week)
Hell it don't offend me you can think what you want of me, as we see Cracker just made reference to a fella in Wis. that fits that description.
I get embarrassed for some folks like when the news comes out to interview someone after a fire or tornado or such, it seems they look for the dumbest person they can find to interview 2funny
As I said not offended just curious is all. coolsmiley

Yes, from what you wrote, but I would argue that a mud fence is still useful for something. Defining the property line.
