Well, yesterday I got my usual April 1st happy birthday call from my lovable sis-in-law. Soon as I pick up the phone she starts singing Happy Birthday to me.....I tell her I can't hear her for all the caterwauling in the background. It's an annual thing, she maintains my mother lied to me by telling me my b'day is 4/2 instead of the real day; 4/1.  Said she did it to relieve me of the humiliation of really being born on April Fools Day, although she tells me my personality quirks give it away.  Roll Eyes She's ornery as cat pee and I tell her so every chance I get.....but love her a bunch. She'll be 84 soon and not in the best of health. I would miss that call if it quit coming.

After what happened four years ago(my major heart attack), I'm thankful to be here. It came a couple months after I lost a second daughter to cancer, dr. said that probably had a lot to do with it.

Nice thoughts John.
She's another Ohioan, lives in Westerville just off 161....a few miles north of you. She has a townhouse on the Little Turtle Golf Club, been there since dirt was invented. Since my wife can no longer travel we haven't been up to see her in 4-5 years. When we get on the phone, my wife just laughs, then shakes her head and walks away.

I thought about that when I read the title of the thread.

I would imagine  that after an experience like that, Birthdays become a little more cherished.

Happy Birthday!

And may you celebrate many more.

NOW get out and go for a ride

Thanks for the notes, weather is pretty nasty today so will have to wait for a ride on Monday. And just for the record, regardless of what my sis-in-law says, the b'day is today.....April 2nd.  Wink

Happy Birthday, John! I always enjoy your posts and am glad I got to meet you a couple years ago. I think it was in Asheville that we chatted for a while and your bike won an award for Best in Show..

I took these pics that day and thought you might like to see them.

Thanks Wiggy, I didn't win best in show....Charlie The Sculptor's former bike/trailer got that one I believe. I got a best in class though. And yes, it was Asheville we finally had a chance to chat in person. I always like to finally meet the folks I cross paths with on the board, it helps to put a face with a name.  cooldude

I've put in a request to my wife's kids in hopes I can get someone to spell me for a few days so I can hit Morgantown in June. No response as yet, hope it works out. I wanted to ride up but when I mentioned that to my wife, I got "that look" along with something to the effect of think of your age, so looks like I would trailer the bike.

Charlie, good to hear from you, been a while. I'm definitely working on making InZane, depends on if I can get someone to come stay with my wife from the 11th to the 19th. Was kinda funny a couple years ago when I made it to Asheville. At first I couldn't get any help from my wife's family, so my daughter Toni said she'd come down from Wisconsin(1400 miles) with her daughter and take care of my Rita. Soon as that news hit the cell phone waves, suddenly two of Rita's kids came up with a solution. She offered to do the same thing this year so we'll see what happens. I didn't say anything but did find it a bit amusing.....and disturbing at the same time.

Bruce, re. Morgantown....I'm trying to get some help so I can make the trip. I'm getting excuses from my "other" family so my own daughter has again said she'd fly down if need be. She's 1400 miles away, these others are all here in Florida.  Angry

As for the BBQ, I'm planning on it....circumstances permitting. A lady at church said she'd be happy to come over and stay with Rita for a few hours so I can have a break.  cooldude
