Just bought a 99 Valkyrie

I just bought a 99 Valkyrie. I was going over the bike and noticed the aftermarket driving lights weren't working. It seems the previous owner started to wire the relay and got confused and quit. I downloaded a wiring diagram but I was wondering if anyone has hooked them up and what wire you used for a switched hot. Or if I should just tie them in with the headlight circuit.

 I tied my relay into the switched accessory wire under the right side cover.

I wired in an aux fuse panel using the auxiliary power wire to operate a relay.  Lots of info on the forum how to do this and now I can hook up several more accessories with no problem.

just put some on my 99 I/S. used the universal kit from kuryakyn. has a chrome on/off switch for the handle bars and wireing and relay. i tagged my relay into the signal wire for the low beams at the low beam relay under the seat (left side) that way when there on they will turn off like the headlights during cranking so the starter gets all the juice. if yours are already wired and to run when the bike is on, you can tag the relay signal wire as i did for the low beams so they turn off when cranking. they also turn off when you switch to high beams.

If you want them on all the time, you might as well power the relay coil with the blue/white headlight wire (power to headlight hi/low switch).  That way when you press the start button, your aux lights will go out with the headlight, supplying more power to the starter.

I think the blue and white wire is the one I'm going to use. I'd like the lights on all the time. I still have the ground switched if I want to turn them off.

I made the blue wire into the headlight bulb be my "any" wire, and
my driving lights come on with the high beams... in general it is bad
to tap any more power off the headlight circuit on a Valkyrie, but
the "any" wire just trips the relay... I've been running like this for
years... I go to high beam when I see someone who might pull
out on me in the hopes that when "something changed" they
notice that I'm there... and at night I can blast maximum light
when there's nobody to blind...
