Maybe no one else will find this info useful, but maybe someone else will. Recently I switched from a motorcycle specific GPS (Zumo 660) to using my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 for GPS/Music etc while riding. One of my only complaints about this setup was that I had to take my glove off to do anything to the phone, pause music, answer a call, change a destination in Waze, etc. Searching for something completely different I learned that my phone at least has a mode you can enable so that it can be used with a gloved hand, so figured I'd share this info here in case it can help someone else. On my Note 4 I go to Settings -> Device -> Display and down at the very bottom is an option for "Increase touch sensitivity". Turn that on and voila, it now works fine with a gloved hand!

I'm constantly amazed at how many new technologies are coming out. Waiting for you tech guys to come up with a simple USB port installed into the back of your head, then you can plug anything in and think your commands (entirely hands free). Maybe I'm a little ahead of my time........ or over the hill. Whatever. I still have to take one glove off to light my cigars. One of those electric lighters would work, but I'd probably burn my bike down (with my electrical non-abilities).

Well, I still use a 10 yr. old flip phone....it takes calls and makes calls. That's all I need and it drives my daughters nuts. "Dad, with that old flip phone we can't text you." Me...."yeah, I know!" Two lines cost me $75/month so if I could ever find that same deal with one of those new-fangled phones I'd probably go for it. Maybe they'll get me one for my 80th birthday, they have two years to save up for it.

We pay just under $240 a month for 5 smart phones, so we're not that far off... To each their own and all that, but having an aware GPS app saved me some serious money just this last weekend. Waze is socially updated, so it knows about speed traps, wrecks, construction, red light cameras, and other road hazards. Several times on my high speed run doing triplet digits from Houston to Dallas the phone would warn me of police ahead, giving me time to move to the slow lane and whistle innocently as we went by them. It'd also warn me of wrecks ahead or stalled vehicles blocking a lane, giving me a little extra time to slow down and prepare for what's ahead. (Obviously you can't rely on it 100% but any advance warning I can get I'll take!) Plus, it streams my music to my Bluetooth helmet, I can look info up on the road (From the side of the road, not while in motion), check weather, etc... Ironically enough the one thing I almost never do with my phone is make or receive phone calls with it. I HATE talking on the phone.

IF I find out the model of this Motorola phone I have I'll let you know. It's a flat one with a touch screen. Think my card is 35$ ish. RIDE SAFE.

John check into Tracfone BYOP (bring your own phone). http://tracfonewireless.com/byop/I slapped a $4.99 Tracfone sim card into an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S5 (available pretty cheap on eBay) and am paying about $100 a YEAR for the service. It's great if you don't anticipate using a whole bunch of data.

I tried that setting with a Galaxy 5 and it didn't work for me, but then again I wear race gaunlets and the heavy padding seems to prevent it.

My Note 4 is supplied by my employer, so I don't pay for it. I have a mount at a heads up location on my F6B that allows me easy view while riding. It has a Car Mode where the needed apps are represented by large icons. Like phone and navigation,Go Pro etc... The only caveat is unless I where fingerless gloves, I couldn't get the screen to react to my gloved hand. There is a product you can supposed apply to the finger tip area of gloves to use touch screens, but I hadn't tried it. Just tried the new setting suggested and it works great.
