I think I've got a new favorite player. The nice young man Jordan Spieth has beat out Phil Mickelson after a 30 year run.

He's a nice guy and a great golfer.  Unfortunately he tripped on the back nine and tied for 2d.  He'll be back.

So Willitt (Brit) gets $1.8mil

Speith and Westwood tied 2d, and will each get $880,000.  Man, what a payday (and what a tax bill).

Speaking of which, I spent all day doing mine (I hate doing taxes).  I had to estimate/prepay this year, taking out a large chunk of 401K to pay the home off.  I nailed it within $200 (state and fed). 

So, naturally I think something has gone horribly wrong (and now await the arrival of back helicopters).

wife just HAD TO buy a tax software for first time ever.  Instead of mailing our taxes in as normal, the fed. govt. got my 880 bucks we owed Federal as of TODAY vs. weeks later 

AS far as golf goes,  never understood it myself, but the guy I work with bets on who wins, etc. and gambles somewhat on sports and has the potential to win 1 million dollars this weekend.  I guess will see if he shows up for work or not on Monday... 

There is money to be had in golf if having the know how.

I was only able watch about 20 minutes of it, so I didn't know until now how things turned out. I did get to see a couple shots that looked like they could have been mine. These guys can still get themselves into trouble. They know how to recover though.

I am not a golfer, use to be in my youth.  I played some in the 90s with my Uncle who in his 70s would destroy me.   I have always sort of had a personal tradition of watching the final round of the Masters while I smoke ( yesterday some ribs and chicken ) some food.  Last couple of years I became a fan of Spieth and that was hard to watch what happened to to this young guy.  At 10th he was 5 strokes in the lead.  At 13th he was 3 behind.  Golfing gods were not kind to him on that back 9.  I think he has a  bright future, we need a new American golf hero.

I just read a piece this morning in the Detroit Free Press about the state of golf in Michigan.  Michigan is number 4 in the country for golf courses.  There was the huge golf boom of from 1990 to 2005 all over the country, and now it is going the other way.  Golf courses are folding and going away at an alarming rate and a great many are just hanging on.   It has a similar parallel to motorcycles.  The millenials are not near as interested in golf as the boomers were.  They do not want to commit the time and resources that golf takes.

What I like most is, it is about the quietest sporting event you can watch on TV.  Instead of the announcers getting all worked up and screaming all day, the announcers have a nice low calming voice.  There is no better sporting even for falling asleep in the recliner.  The occasional great shot will cause a crowd cheer, and you can wake up for that.

I like it. Take a nap but don't miss the highlights.   I missed the meltdown. My wife came home from work and wanted to go get something to eat. Come back and all hell had broken loose.

I went and tried out for the masters so i could get invited, told them i shot a 68 on this course,,they said hell no,,aint no way,, so we went out and I teed up and wham there went the ball,, they all laffed at me but i tied my best,, yep a 68!!! and the next day we went back and tried the second hole...

2nd ex and I watched Tiger Woods last amateur game and both of our jaws were down on our knees. Not a fan of Golf per se and didn't even watch any of it. I hafta admit at times Golf do have It's moments. That's the WHY of Sports Center and the evening news!  RIDE SAFE.

Never been a big golf fan.  Probably due to a bad experience early on.  On my very first time on the golf course, the other golfers were very rude to me.  They were cursing an waving me off and kept yelling stuff like  Get those f&(*&g dirt bikes off the golf course.  I thought it was very unprofessional and haven't cared much for golf since.

good one RP,  or more like mine when they run you off the course for doing donuts renting the electric golf cart or tipping it over going full bore on the fairway on very uneven ground.   My high schooler friend use to get so pissed he would toss his club as far as he could chuck it or wrap it up on a poor tree.

Biggest thing I disliked was taking 45 minutes or more to find the darn golf ball after slicing it 100 yards to the right and only 100 yard forwards. 

Needless to say,  I was very happy to break 70 in 9 holes.  I did get ONLY once on a par 3 on the green on first shot off tee, but 4 putted it after that....

   Finest sporting event of the year. I look forward to it and I won't miss it. As you can see by what happened to Mr. Spieth on Sunday. The back nine on Sunday @ Augusta National is special. Big part for me is, it is something my Father and I enjoyed together. I can just about remember every Sunday we watched the final round. The event is steeped in tradition and I admire that.
   I enjoy golfing. I used to play a lot, mostly with my Father. He and his brothers were very good golfers. Guess it skipped a generation with me. Got away from the game when the kids came along and were small. The game is expensive and time consuming. Now my son plays at the high school level. We play together along with my daughter and a close friend. Good family time!

One thing I learned a long time ago was to throw the club in the direction you're going.
