Exhaust heat

Slowly putting miles on my new 2014 Valkyrie.  Longest ride yet (60 miles).  Weather was low 60's in the midwest.  My girl was on back.  We stopped for lunch about 30 miles in and she said her feet felt like they were on fire.  Has anyone else had this issue with a passenger?  I am assuming it's coming from the exhaust.  The exhaust has a joint right below the passenger pegs...

We have 7000 miles on the new Valk and that is 90% 2up. No heat felt anywhere as I just asked my wife.  She does wear boots that cover her ankle and we have goldwing floorboards and Kuryakyn passenger highway pegs as well.  That might be a good option for you as the highway pegs will get her feet higher and more forward.  She is good about tucking them in when in traffic.  I had mine powder coated black.  Just a note she had no heat with the stock passenger pegs.  See link.  Highway pegs work with stock pegs and goldwing floorboards.

Also Goldwing floorboards can be found on eBay slightly used as the Goldwing folk change them out to Kuryakyn transformers and I beleive the transformers fit as well but I do not know first hand. So there might be some options.

I have never had this issue with the wife or myself riding but maybe its because Ive had a belly pan on pretty much the whole time. The catalytic converters are just below the pass feet also, the belly pan does not extend this far back but maybe air flow is changed enough to not hit the passenger feet.

Went for 200 mile ride this Sat down Everglade City through Immakalee. Air was cool. I took my hand off the handle bar (left) for a while on a long stretch. Did not have gloves on that ride. Put my hand down along side seat and by side pnl by battery. Felt very warm air. Moved around and confirmed was blowing out radiator pods. Passing air apears to be vectoring back in at that point. I do not feel it on my legs but the passenger may. I put Hwy pegs on my bike and end up not using them as air flow around bike pretty intense down side of bike. Very comfortable and protected as long as your legs remain tucked in behind the radiator pods. I get intense charley hourse when I try and put my legs out fighting the wind at any fast speed. Others may have no problem but I have a hip issue and have to be careful how I possition my legs and feet. There is a lot of hot air coming out of the pods and there are wind deflectors that may help I have seen used on the Goldwings.

THANKS ALL!  Great information and feedback!  I think it was a combo of the type of shoe she had on (style and material - was dressed more for going out than riding) and the pants she was wearing (rolled up - slightly exposed ankle).   She wore similar on my VTX on several occasions with no heat problems - so was making sure I wasn't missing a known issue.  Going riding Saturday and she will have her riding boots and boot cut pants on.  If that clears it up, then my only expense is buying her a sexy pair of riding boots - LOL.
