...my sister Terri. Last year she was diagnosed with a brain cancer. Not nice.
She was able to get an operation to remove most of it. This extended her time
with us.

The thing has grown back, and is once again bad news. Another operation
is not possible.

She'll be going to Toronto tomorrow to one of only two hospitals on this continent that
have an experimental drug program. Princess Margaret here, and another in
San Diego.

Please, if you can, say a prayer, or think some helpful thoughts for my sister
Terri.

It's the end of the day here. I'd like to thank all of you who have wished
my sister well.

FYI, she was a nurse in a major hospital here. She has given 30 plus years
of here life to helping others, and always in the most unselfish manner.

Why is it that the good ones seem to have to go through this, while
wretches like this one speaking, go on?

I stand outside and shout at the sky and ask that which we worship, why.

No answers, still searching.

When I read this this morning, I looked in the Bible (because that's where the answer is,
not in the sky) some... I didn't find anything helpful. It states pretty clearly
in Matthew that it rains equally on both the just and the unjust... don't give
up on your sister and don't give up on God...

I offer this, my friend, in love and respect.  I understand your feelings and I don't think I can adequately provide and answer to your sense of injustice.

"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." Matthew 5:44-45 NASB

It doesn't cause me to lose all thought and feeling of injustice but it does allow me to step back and realize that I don't have near the understanding of what goes on in this world that I think I need.  I can't see what good comes out of what I have perceived as wrong or what evil comes out of what I had assessed as good.  Mostly I focus back upon myself and what good, far beyond reason, has happened to me.  I, like you, tend to account for myself not in the group of the good but in the mass of the wretches.  I thank God for the sacrificing good such as Terri and for all they unselfishly have done for those around them, including me.  I stop short, these days, of expecting reward for the good and just result for the evil.  I let the sun and the rain fall on both and believe that Someone knows better than do I.

I am thankful for the life and service that your sister has provided.  I hate that the hateful things of this world and human life that crawl around among us has touched her in such a painful way, painful not only for her but for you and me and those around her.  I for one hope we never get down to getting what we deserve.  I wish that it were true for her, though.
