Headed to Southern Bone and Joint Hattiesburg, Ms at 5:30 am. Supposedly knife time is 6 to 7 o'clock. Getting nervous. Don't know how long I will be laid  up . Took a quick 150 mile ride today on my M50. Will probably be able to ride the trike before the M50. Of course is uncharted waters for me. Had both knees operated on years ago.

Hope you mend soon, seems knees and hips are much less trouble now days and very successful, have you walking same day in many cases! I have been down for 4 weeks with a broken leg so the inside of the house is too small.

Make sure you don't do more than your told to like I did, make sure you ask questions. I have prolonged my heal time. Be praying for your speedy recovery down here at the bottom of Texas.

Thanks. Suppose to be up on them same day. Plan on doing what they want and no extra. That will be hard for me, but realize they know more than me.

Wishing you the best of outcomes from this.  It would be scary for me but they are doing much more and successfully these days with joint replacement.

David for  the  first few days it won't be hard at all not to do more than they ask it will be hard enough to do as much as they ask. The key to it is Rehab-Rehab-Rehab cooldude

Well right now you couldn't drive a 12 pin nail up my butt with a 16 lbs mall. I tried to ovoid this, but being bone to bone for so many years they were  getting worst every day.

That seems to be the key to the whole surgery. What's the old saying, no pain, no gain.

I've had total knee replacements for both knees and am sooooo very glad that I did!!  I, of course don't run like I used to, (I'm 76 and have no business running anyway) but boy it's so easy to walk again, just about any distance i want without PAIN !!  Like others are saying"do the therapy!!!

Good LUCK!!

My daughter has had both knees replaced.  She is a secretary in a Rehab facility. She, too, emphasizes REHAB, REHAB, and REHAB.

I'm sure everything will turn out fine. Arse puckering is normal, at least it is for me, when I go into surgery (and I've been there a few but not for knees yet.)

The methods are getting better each year for replacements - you'll be walking after the surgery.  As others have said, rehab is the key.  Don't take it easy as you don't want scar tissue to limit your range of motion.  The scary part is before - you'll be so happy tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck!

IT WILL BE FINE! Been there done that. Do what the doc says for the best recovery. Recovery will be the shortest if you do. right afterwards it may seem like you did the wrong thing but give it a chance! Again, it will be fine. Let us know in the next few days how it goes.

Out of surgery and doing great. Went in at 715 and back in my room at 1000. Got up and walked to the nurses station. Got me in a machine to flex my knee. Right now I have a 100% positive review. No hurting so far.

Buddy of mine had a double knee replacement, in great shape, near 70 years old, not over weight. He was fishing with us in Alaska 2 weeks after the operation.  Going up and down steep stairs, and in and out of bush planes.  Wish you luck.

Finished first round of rehab. That was painful. Round 2 at 1 o'clock.  Had 92 degrees right knee and 94 on my left. Probably want get that much this afternoon.  Definitely no pain no gain.

...  Definitely no pain no gain.

You know they tell us that repeatedly but never offer any statistics.  I'm not sure I believe them.  I'm fairly well convinced that physical therapists are by nature sadistic beings and simply enjoy the opportunity to inflict pain upon us.

They are however what we require to make the progress we intend so we must make ourselves available for their pleasure so that we might achieve the end we desire.

Do what you have to do, David.  When it hurts look them in the eye and say, "Is th it?  Is that all you've got?"  They do respond to that challenge.

I'm looking forward to your being fully operational and being able to put all this behind you.  Good news on the progress.   cooldude
