I found out today (funeral) that one of the group riders pulled up along side of Joe and when the truck crossed the center line , Joe had no where to go .  Very bad practice to ride tandem .  Please , ride staggered, it  might have saved Joe and it might save one of my fellow Valkyrie Family members.

Ride safe

ALWAYS QUESTION AUTHORITY!

..

Yep, too many have the side by side mentality. Tragic.

The emperor has no clothes

Just yesterday a 16' piece of aluminum was ripped off a trailer in front of me. Had I been side by side my buddy we would have probably both crashed.

That is even worse news  >:( >:( :( :(  When people ride in groups I have often said that they get too worried about maintaining the group rather than riding safely, and this one is tragic.

Sorry for your loss.  :(

Every ride I have been on with the VRCC has been staggered. Several other rides and ceremonies they want to do side by side. I would rather have the escape hatch.

So sorry to hear this.  Almost the same thing happened yesterday within 5 miles of my house.  A Marine tactical vehicle crossed center to avoid stopped traffic and he hit a rider head on.  68 year old man on a bike died instantly.

Blink of an eye.

VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS SIR. IF YOU RIDE A MOTORCYCLE AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER YOU HAVE HAD A CLOSE CALL. MINE CAME IN 2009. THE DRIVER OF A PICK UP RAN A RED LIGHT AND CLIPPED MY FRONT WHEEL SPINNING ME AROUND AND THROWING ME OFF THE BIKE. I STOPPED RIDING MY 98 VALK FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS. I'AM 62 AND THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME ANYTHING HAD EVER HAPPENED TO ME. I GOT OVER IT BUT IT'S STILL IS IN THE BACK OF MY MIND. BUT I JUST CAN'T GIVE UP RIDING OR MY VALK.  IT'S TO PRETTY.

Writing in all caps is considered yelling,, just FYI.

Every close call I have ever had on the bike is permanently engraved on my mind.

Everyone has their own preference when riding and it isn't specific to one brand of bike. I've heard the ol slam that all Harley guys ride side by side. OK....I don't care what bike I'm on or how anyone else rides but I won't ride side by side. I want room to move if I have to, or stop without worrying about someone being next to me or hittin me in the rear end.
You are never lost if you don't care where you are!
