I saw that in the first posting of the pics. Didn't say anything 'cuz I figured the rest were already aware of it and I was just lagging behind. Apparently not.  :D

Regardless, glad for both of you. Pappy got a great lady, Lesa got.....uh, let me get back to you on that(Casey, you didn't think I was going to go easy on you, did you). :2funny:  Seriously guys, it's good, congrats from both Rita and me.  :cooldude:

Not me. I'm dumb and dumber all in one.  But it caused quite a stir at JB with Sherry, she had a personal interest in this one.  They are sneaky those two!   >:(

DD

I thought the same as others, you already were hitched.   ???

CONGRATS to Lesa and Pappy!    :cooldude:

Congrats to both of you, you make a great couple.
Now Casey when are you throwing cigar part for us!!!!!

John Schmidt

I understand this came about on the Leap Year date. If so, that was a great move Pappy, now you only have to buy an anniversary present once every four years. Why didn't I think of that nearly 22 yrs. ago, just think of the money I would have saved.  Let's see....$5/year X 5 leap years=$25 could have saved so far. Oh well!  :'(  ;D

Pappy!

Thanks for all the wonderful replies so far! Well....all except for yours, John!!  :tickedoff:  :2funny:

Yes, Lesa and I got married on Feb. 29th, this year. We had been talking about it off and on for quite a while and no date seemed to be  springing out at us.
Sherry and Crystal were on my butt, instigators that they are, relentlessly, every get-together, gathering all the women around for the sole purpose of making sure it was known that I wasn't on the bandwagon still. I was getting to where I could not sleep at night because of it. I thought I may have to move to Aruba or to a house overlooking one of the nude beaches in France. Anything to escape the shame of it all.
Instead, this is what happened.
In order to reduce the amazing load placed upon my shoulders by Sherry and Crystal, Lesa and I became engaged in January....pretty much on her Birthday. That kept me from having to buy two presents plus my involuntary stress related tremors, migraine headaches, and the beginnings of turrets syndrome were almost instantly relieved.
Now, somewhere around the first or second week in Feb. Lesa comes flying into the bedroom (I was on the computer) and does an airborne leap into the bed. For a second I thought i was gonna' get lucky....think again, big boy!

conversation that followed -
Lesa: Honey, what would you think of getting married on Leap Year??
Me: I dunno', sounds like it would be kind of a fun thing to do.
Lesa: Just think, you would only have to remember our anniversary once every 4 years!!
Me: This is sounding better all the time! (Score one for the home team, guys!)
Lesa: Great! Where would you like to get married?
Me: Lets go down to Minneola where my Dad was born and do it there.

So....now we had a plan! We have both been there and done that and wanted things simple and quiet so a justice of the peace was asked to marry us.

Now.....after the ceremony.

Lesa: You know that thing about only having to remember our anniversary once every 4 years?
Me: Uh-huh?.......Throat tightening, dry, a bead of sweat forming on my brow.
Lesa: It better be one Hell of a nice anniversary present, buddy! (That means expensive)
Me: Devoid of words and that feeling when you know you have been bested by one of the best.

I knew there was a catch to this or at least I had that feeling!

Anyway.
The day after we were married we were in Ft. Lauderdale at 6:20AM with Lesa in line for a possible interview with Spirit Airlines for a flight attendant position. There were right at 550 other folks in line as well.
She got the job! 54 others made it as well.
Last week of March she left for Lauderdale again for a solid month of intensive Spirit and Federal Aviation Administration training to become a certified attendant. Intensive FAA testing all through the month. About 45 made it through the course.
I am now married to a Spirit Airlines Flight Attendant! ............based in Dallas/Ft. Worth! At least until she can get transferred back to Florida. Won't take long as Spirit is hiring like Crazy and she is already moving up the seniority ladder.
She got back home this last Friday and I am taking her to the airport tomorrow morning early early.
Anyway....that's what we have been up to lately.

Great story Pappy, and I can identify with the dry mouth, tremors, etc., re. matrimony. This was the second time around for Rita and me(about 30 prior for both of us), I sorta chased her until she caught me. ;)  Since we knew so many people in the Orlando area we decided to elope, that way nobody could complain about not being invited. Long story about our wedding trip and honeymoon I'll tell you guys in person some time. Involves Indians, waterfalls, glaciers and mountain wild flowers.  ;D

That's great news Pappy.  :cooldude:
I'm happy for both of you though I think you got the better end of the deal. ;D

Congratulations are in order for BOTH lucky couples. May both couples be as happy together in 50 years, as you are now.

Valkahuna

Congratulations to you both. The way I look at it, you both did well!  :cooldude:

Pappy, I liked your story, and can only imagine the pressure some of the other ladies put on you. As for us, it was 46 years in December, and I can't remember (or imagine) life without Viv.  :)
