The picture is of a footpeg that is made up of a peg end into a stainless tube. I took it from the forward peg position on my trike and replaced the standard Valk pegs.

I was dismounting the other day when my foot suddenly dropped to the ground...the peg had simply dropped off!

The peg end is cast material. As the photo shows it has also cracked back down the main body.

Anybody seen this with cast pegs? Luckily I was stationary at the time. Nasty out on the highway.

The forward peg mounts are male while the Valks are female. But the dimensions are such that the external of the peg end that fits over the forward mount (5/8) square fits perfectly inside the Valk mount (3/4 square) Even so, could doing that have caused the failure?

How bad would that be. Raise up off the seat to reposition at highway speed and the foot peg break off. Makes me cringe. Mine aren't like that but I'm checking them in the morning. Glad you shared that. Nice dog shadow too.

Yeah I just stood looking at the peg on the ground and my thoughts do not bear repeating!

The upside is that the Valk ends are pressed steel welded to the peg, and not cast. IMO far less prone to cracking like this. They may even be hardened and tempered

Given that I had mounted a peg, meant for a msle mount to a female mount, it may be my doing, although the fit was perfeft. So I am interested to know if others have heard of cast pegs breaking like this.
