Electrical glitch(s) repaired

My brother drove down from his place yesterday AFTER dropping his Wife at O'hare at 0400. Yesterday he spent a lot of time reading circuits with the ohm meter. Today he spent a bit of time with the ohm meter the test light and the volt meter. His Wife made a suggestion that in the end helped us track the culprit(s). Anybody besides me and da prez remember us posting about that cow floater we got caught in after visiting with R J in Des Moines after I-15 in June? It's my brothers considered opinion that the corrosion  we encountered in the 4 relays ahead of the battery box while not entirely the fault of that monster rain storm sure didn't help. Some of the plug ins inside the fairing were grungy and loose also.  Much scraping of contacts a bit of a bend in the male part some dieletric grease and pushing the plugs together from both sides-namely the red 9 prong plug from the starter switch in the fairing and checking as we went I was able to do a 30 mile trouble fee test ride!   The suggestion from my Lovely S I L-which my brother incorporated-was jump it another way. Which he did and he will explain far better than I can when he gets back home. Some thanks to a couple of board members that helped KEEP us on the right track with suggestions and been there done that's!   Bob Attic Rat Smith Bon S and Jerry A K A Big Wolf. When people say this board rocks-these 3 and a lot of others including my Brother A K A da prez-are THE reason this board rocks. I'm proud to call a bunch of folks here FRIEND. Honestly-my attendance at I-16 was coming into question.   Good LORD willin the crik she no git higher da prez and I WILL be at I-16!   Again-thanks to everyone that helped. Keeping a 17 year old Motorcycle with 117000+ miles on her is SOOOOO much easier with the accumulated knowledge that is available here with a computer keystroke or a phone call is mind boggling. The trick is having the computer query or the phone call answered -I have NEVER been disappointed in any and all help I have received here. C y'all at I-16. RIDE SAFE.

I will condense this , as it took me 6 hours to figure out. O2S did some tests I gave him by phone.
 I started over and with fully charged battery , lights came on , no start. Jumped across battery starter lead. Engine cranks. Ran ohms test on wiring and switches and all checked out good. Put it all together and no work. Jumped starter relay and bike cranks but no spark . Hot wired bike and it started. traced wiring and pulled all relays and connections and cleaned , tightened and dia-electric grease on all. Basically it was faulty connections. I was chasing a ghost. I had called a couple others for info. Every circuit was checked and traced. The new start switch did not work when changed. After all cleaning  , bike starts and runs . When putting the connecters together , I pushed each terminal in  to insure contact. There was a lot more to the testing than I could write .

          UH-Tom-wuz Ross what figured it out. Phone calla back and forth with the folks listed-well while the advice was good I wasn't good at implementing it. Electrical schematics to me anyway look like Sanskrit. Ross has the patience to run diagnostics. Eventually he was able to eliminate all but one wire in the starting circuit. While the Clymer book is good the Honda manual broke down the sub systems. I sent the Honda manual home with him. He'll get far more use out of I than I would. And finding and fixing the glitch added to the knowledge he has on these machines of ours. Myself and others here much like our beloved Valkyries ain't gittin no younger!   RIDE SAFE.
